The City Coin-mission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey
present on .roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday November 15th, 1954., were approved as read.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the petition of Pearl S. Tipple,.and Paul Maggnuson
et ux,.for vacating the east 10 ft.and west 10 ft. of 20th Avenue South from Lombard Lane
to the right of way of the Naches & Cowiche Ditch, be accepted and the City Attorney in-
structed to prepare the necessary papers for said vacation, carried: Burns, Huza and
Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns that Ordinance No. B -1620 which was introduced and read
in full by the City Clerk on Monday, the 22nd day of November, providing for an emergency
warrant to be issued on the Street fund of said city of Yakima, to satisfy the Judgement
of Anna Blasick and husband, in the sum of $4,781.95, be passed as read, carried: Burns,
Huza and Huey voting aye .on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1620, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted,
for the payment of a judgment recovered by Anna Blasick and husband, and declaring an
emergency.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that Ordinance No. B -1621, which was introduced and
read in full by the City Clerk, on Monday, November 22nd, 1954, providing for the issuance
of a warrant in the sure of $1,000.00 for the acquisition of land for the Water Department.
be passed as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1621, AN ORDINANCE providing, for the expenditure of funds not budgeted
for partial payment for the acquisition of land for the City Water Department, and de-
claring an emergency.
Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that Resolution No. C -1177, pertaining to Social Secu-
rity for City employees in.conjunction with their retirement system, be adopted as read,
carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1177, WHEREAS the Congress of the United States recently amended the
Federal Social Security Act to permit employees of political subdivisions who are now
covered by a retirement system, except policemen-',and firemen, to also participate in the
benefits of Social Security under certain conditions; and it is desired by the City of
Yakima to obtain the benefits available therefrom; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That effective January 1, 1955, the City of Yakima, in addition to its participation in
the statewide city employees retirement system, shall also participate in the Federal
Social Security program to the extent and in the manner provided and permitted by the
Acts of Congress and the laws and statutes of the State of Washington pertaining thereto,
as to all employees of .said city as to whom said Federal Social Security may be applic-
able, but not including policemen -and firemen and city employees not now under the state
wide city employees retirement system who elect not to come under said social security
program.
That the appropriate city officials, and particularly
authorized and directed to make any and all payments,
contributions, and to do any and all things which may
poses.
