HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/23/1954 Business Meeting5 AUGUST 25, 1954 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey present on roll call. The minutes of the Regular meeting of Monday, August 16th, 1954, and adjourned meeting thereof, were approved as read. This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of paving the alleys in Blocks 290 and 252 of Ker's and Kers Second Addition, L. I. D. No. 779, the following: were received: Lone Pine Paving Company in the sum of $1,652.50. This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of the Douglas Drive Curb and Gutter District, L.I.D. No. 780, the following bids were received: G. G. Teskey, in the sum of $31,216.10 and DeBlasio Bros. in the sum of $27,277.12. This being the construction of the 35th Avenue North Curb and Gutter District, L.I.D. No. 781 the following were received: G. G. Teskey, $0,704-45 and DeBlasio Bros. in the sum of 9,136.21. ;4?oved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that said bids be taken under advisement, upon comple- tion of the tabulation by the City Engineer, and awards made at a later date, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1150, providing for the construction of curbs and gutters on 33rd Avenue South from Nob Hill Blvd. to the Nob Hill School, and there being insufficient protest against said improvement,'or any part thereof; it is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1591, creating L.I.D. No. 784, be passed as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call ORDINANCE NO. B -15911 AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters; establishing • Local_ Improvement District providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating • special fund. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1151, providing for the construction of curbs and ;utters on `west Lenox Avenue from 3rd Avenue South to Ledwich Avenue and there being considerable protest from several property owners in said vicinity; it is ordered that said improvement be abandoned at present, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting; aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that this being the time for the hearing on the assess- ment roll in L. I. D. No. 769, providing for the construction of a sewer system on Lots 1 to 16 in Hillacre Addition, and therebeing no objections in writing or otherwise to said improvement or any part thereof; it is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1590, confirm- ing said assessment roll and every part thereof, be passed as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1590 AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement District No. 769 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -1561 of the Ordinances of the City of Yakima. Moved by Nuza, seconded by Burns that Resolution No. C -1155, being a Resolution of in- tention to improve Prasch Avenue from 7th Avenue South to 8th Avenue South by grading, ballasting, surfacing; and constructing concrete curbs and gutters, be adopted as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. C -11551 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That it is its intention to improve Prasch Avenue from Seventh Avenue South to T ighth Avenue So nth btr grading, bal_lastin?,, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs aid curbs and gutters. The district to be served by and assessed for the above describe( improvement is situate in Yakima County, 114ashington, and described as follows, to -wit: The South 14 feet of Lot 7 and all of Lots 8 to 12, inclusive, of Block 1 of the Amended Plat of Pearson Subdivision; also Lots 1 to 6, inclusive, and Lots 16 to 21, inclusive, of the Rowley -Evans Subdivision. All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improveme are hereby notified to appear and present such objections, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, 11ashington, at the hour 10 o'clock a.m. on Monday the 13th day of September, 1954; which time and place are hereby fixed for the herein; of all matters relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of pay- ment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement. All costs and expenses in connection i,,d th the proposed.construc- tion of said improvement, including the engineering, inspection, advertising, publica- tion of notices and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be levied and assessed against all of the property _legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as provided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing all of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted; all of laic improvements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the-City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the following bids heretofore received on Monday, August 23rd, be awarded as follows: Lone Pine Paving Co. for paving the alley in Block 252 and 290 Ker's & Ker's Second Addition $1,652.50 DeBlasio Bros. for constructing Curbs and Gutters on Douglas Drive, $27,277.12 DeBlasio Bros.. for constructing Curbs and gutters on 3.5th Avenue North in the sum of $92136.21 and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into co- ntracts with said hid- ers on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing said work upon receipt of the proper bonds being filed as required by law, carried: Burna,Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
