The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, June 28th, 1951~ and adjourned meeting; thereof were approved as read; carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that this being the time for receiving bids for the con- struction of a sewer system on Douglas Drive, in L.I.D. No. 773, the following were received: De Blasio Bros. $9,787.80 on T & G Concrete 10,590,75 on B &.3 Concrete 11,507.95 on Vitrified Clay N. L. Kimble 9,527.60 on T & G Concrete 10,638.20 on B & S Concrete 11,563.70 on Vitrified Clay It is therefore ordered, N: L. Kimble'-- bid in the sum of 19,527.60 on T. & G. Concrete pipe be accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby in- structed to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doin; said �,vork, upon the filing of the proper bond therefor, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey present on roll call. Moved. by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Engineer having reported the completion of the construction of curbs -C,nd gutters -on North Naches Avenue in L.I.D. No. 764, by the contractor, said roll is hereby accepted and the City Engineer instructed to pre- pare an assessment roll therefor, and. the City Clerk authorized to give notice of hear - inp; on said roll for Monday, the 2nd day of August 1954, at the ,hour of 10 o'clock A.M., carried: Burns, Huza and. Move,_', _ by Burns, seconded by Huza that Resolution No. C -1139, providing for an emergency service in the event of a second or general fire alarm and. the calling of off -shift firemen, etc. for the Fire Department of the City of Yakima, be adopted as read, carried Burns, Huza and. Huey voting aye on roll call. RESOUM.'ION NO. C -1139, IvI.TTEREAS, the Fire Department is an emergency service, and in the event of a second- or general fire alarm it ia necessary to call off -shift firemen, and in such event time is the essential element; NOK THEREFORE BE IT' RESOLVED BY THE CITY COiU%r ISSION OF THE CITY -OF YAKIMA : That the City Commission does hereby direct, order and approve the following amendements of sections 4, 57 22, and 38 of the rules and regulations of the fire department so that said sections, as amended., shall read as follows: Section 4. Each member shall provide means of telephonic corn - munication in his place of residence. Such telephonic communications shall be on the local phone exchange and. shall_ be not in excess of a four party service. Section 5. The number of membe-.s permitted to be unavailable for call duty, which number shall include members on vacation, absentees due to illness or injury, shall not exceed twenty five percent of the total personnel. Members, when absenting themselves from horrie, shall_ notify the Alarm Operator of intended- absence or 1 1117 ji JULY 6, 1954 reason for unavailability. Section 22. Members shall immediately report to the Company Commander any chancre of residence. Such residence shall be so located that in the event of a fire emergency call, not more than a reasonable time shall be .required for such fire- men to report to his fire station for duty. A reasonable time for such purpose shall be deemed not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes normal travel time from his residence to Fire Station No. 1 under normal travel conditions, assuming compliance with all applicable traffic, law and ordinance requirements. Section 38. In the event of a second or greater alarm or fire be= ing transmitted, all members of the off - shifts shall, at the earliest possible moment, report direct to the .fire station to which they are regularly assigned, unless otherwise instructed by proper authority. BURNS Mayor Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, that Resolution No. C -1140, providing that the Mayor be appointed and constituted the lawful agent of the City of .Yakima, for the purpose of ad- justing and settling all claims for losses sustained by reason of a fire which occured at the Airport on or about the 25th day of June 1954, with the Fire Insurance Companies, be adopted as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -1140, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CI`l,Y CO:UJIISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Resolved that G. W. Burns, the Mayor of said City of Yakima, a municipal corporation, be and hereby is appointed and constituted the'lawful agent of the said City of Yakima,: a municipal corporation, with full power to act for said City in all matters pertaining to the adjustment, compromise, and settlement of all claims for losses sustained., or to be sustained by said City by reason of the fire which occurred on or about the 25th day of June, 1954, including all claims against the Fire Insurance Compan- ies interested in said losses, and to execute for said City in its name or otherwise, all documents, appraisal and other agreements, proofs of loss, receipts and. releases as may in his judgment be necessary or desirable in the premises.
