HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/25/1954 Business Meetingr16 MONDAY, JANUARY 25th, 1954, 10:00 otclock a.m. The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey present on roll dall. The minutes of'the iregular meeting of Monday, January 18th, 1954, and adjourned meetings thereof, were approved as read. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the petition of the Yakima Medical Center, Inc. Unit 2, for the vacation of the North one foot of W. Spruce Street..adjacent to Lots B, and C of Bedkerts Addition, be accepted, and the City Attorney instructed to prepare the necessary proceedings in connection therewith, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the bids heretofore.received on Friday, January 22, 1954, for the uncovering -of the Union Gap Trunk Sewer, were as follows: G. G. Teskey 1,600.00 A. L. Goodman 1,360.00 Joe Brandt 11280.00 Ray Pickens 19120.00 DeBlasio Bros. 720.00 i J. W. Fannan 768.00 The bid of DeBlasio, in the sum of $720.00, was accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing said work, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. - Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the City Engineer having reported the completion of the improvement of the Old Power House Road Sewer -, L.I.D. No. 765, by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted and the City Engineer instructed to prepare an assessment roll for said district, and the City Clerk authorized to give notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, February 15th.1954, at 10:00 otclock a.m., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the City Engineer having reported the completion of the improvement of extending the North 1st Street sewer system, L.I.D. No. 766, by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted, and the City Engineer authorized to prepare arf assessment roll for said district, and the City Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on said roll, for Monday, February 15th 1954, at 10 :00 otclock A.M., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Burns, Seconded by Huey, that a hearing be had on the rezoning of Lots 1 to 15, Cascade Addition, from 11.B11 Residence District to Commercial District; said hearing to. be on Monday, Feburary lst 1954., at 10 :00 otclock a.m., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voti aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that we do adjourn to meet Wednesday, 'January 27th, 1954, at 10:00 of -clock a.m., carried. Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27th, 1954, 10 :00 otclock a.m. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey present on roll call. Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, that the bids on crushed rock heretofore received on Monday, January 25th 1954, at 10:00 otclock A.M.; and read by the clerk were as f6llows: Yakima Cement Products Co. on 2200 yds 3/811 crushed rock, $2,640.00; 4000 Yds 5/811, $49000.00; `1000 yds. � -J or 5/8 screened, $1,000.00;, 1000 11 crushed rock, $950.-00 and 1000 yda. Fill material, unclassified, $600.00, or a total for all material in the sum of $9,590-00'. The Valley Cement Co. bid on 2200 yds 3/811 crushed rock, $2,970.00; 4000 yds. 5/81" $4,200.00; 1000 yds. 3/4 to 2 or 5/8 screened, $1,000.00; 1000 yds 11 minus $900.00, and 1000 yds. unclassified, $700.00, or a toal of all material in the sum of 69,770.00; It is therefore ordered that the bid of the Yakima Cement Company in the Sum of $9,590.00 be accepted as the lowest and best bid, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
