HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/28/1953 Business Meetingk it 1 1 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1953, 10 :00 o1clock a.m. The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza and Huey present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, September 21st 1953, and adjourned meeting thereof were passed as read. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1079, providing for the construction of a sewer system in what is known as the "Old Power House Road" district, and there appearing property owners in said district opposed to certain portions of said improvement; It is ordered that the proposed later als south of the Power House Road, be eliminated from the district, but that the entire district be assessed for the proposed trunk line, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1083, providing for the construction of curbs and gutters on North Naches Avenue from East "I" Street to East "K"'Street and there being opposition to said district: It was ordered that the petition be tabulated by the city engineer and a report made by him at a later date, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huza, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for receiving bids for the purchase of Two one -half ton trucks -for the Water Department the following were received: Bell -Wyman Company -1953 Dodge 1,446.39 Less Trade in of 1937 Dodge, total $ 1,396.39 Burrows Motor Co. -1953 Ford 1,493.50 Less Trade in of 1937 Dodge, total 1,343.50 Wagner Chevrolet Co. -1953 Chevrolet 11425.50 Less Trade in of 1937 Dodge, total 1043.50 The bid of the Burrows Motor Company in the sum of 1,343.50 was accepted as the lowest and best bid. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for the hearing on the assessment roll in L.I.D., No. 756, being the 28th and 29th Avenue South Curb and Gutter District, and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to said assessment roll, or any part thereof; It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1497, confirming said assess- ment roll and every part thereof, be passed as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B- 1497, AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improve- ment District No. 756 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -1459 of the Ordinances of the City of Yakima. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the contract heretofore entered into between J. Arch Bollong, Consulting Engineer for the Traffic Department, and the City of Yakima, be cancelled, as of July lst, 1953, for the reason that.Mr. Bollong is no longer able to carry out the contract on account of illness, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, there being no further - business to come before the board that we do now adjourn, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
