The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, July 13th 1953, were approved as read, Commissioners Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Mayor Burns absent. This being the time for receiving.bids for constructing an'irrigation system on Park Lane, L.I.D. No. -758, the following were received: G. G. Teskey Ray Pickens DeBlasio Bros. $ 1,134.00 1, 018.00 969.00., Due to the fact that the low bid is considerably more than the Engineer's estimate; It was moved by Huey, sea.onded by Huza, that all bids be rejected, and the work-be done by force account at a later date, carried: Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Burns absent. This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of an irrigation system on Fair Avenue, L.I.D. No® 757, the following were received: G. G. Tes,key DeBlasio Bros. Ray Pickens 5,376.00 2..539.00 2,520.50. It was moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the bid of Ray Pickens in the sum of $2,,520. be accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing said work upon the filing of the proper bond as required by law, carried: Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Burns Absent. This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of curbs and gutter district on 35th Avenue South, L.I.D. No. 759, the following were received: Joe Brandt G. G. Teskey DeBlasio Bros. 9,765.95 8, 670.90 7,883.17. It was moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the bid of DeBlasio Brothers in the sum of $7,883.17, be accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and City Clerk are here- by authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the Ci -ty of Yakima for doing said work, upon the filing of the proper bond as required by law, carried: Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Mayor Burns absent. Moved by Huza, second -ed by Huey, that the resignation of V. J. Beaulaurier, as Assistant 'City Attorney, is hereby accepted to take effect July 31st 1953, carried: Huza and Huey voting aye on roll :all, Mayor Burns absent. Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, that the petition filed by Attorneys, for and on behalf of Dr. Claire VanEaton and the for a rehearing on the rezoning of property situated at the Avenue North and Summitview, be accepted and a new date set matter on Tuesday August 4th 1953, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., c: aye on roll call, Mayor Burns absent. Velikan jf�, and Valikan je Richfield Oil Co. asking Southwest corner of 15th for another hearing on said :rried: Huza and Huey voting Moved by Huza, seconded by Huey, that Resolution No. C -1074, to improve the alleys in Block 4, Heerman's Addition, and other property more particularly described in said resolution, be adopted as read, carried: Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Mayor Burns absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -1074, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That it is its intention to improve the alleys in Block 4, Heerman's Addition; Block 2, Tieton Terrace Addition; and Block 4, Hillcrest Addition, by grading and paving with asphaltic concrete placed on a crushed rock base; all of said improvements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer and f:Cled with the City Clerk. The district to be served by and assessed for the above described improvements is described as follows, to -wit: All the lots in Block 4, Heerman's Addition; all the lots in Block 2, Tieton Terrace Addition; and all the lots in Block 4, Hillcrest Addition. All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement are hereby notifies to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m., on Monday, the 17th day of August, 1953,; which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said proposed improve- ment or objections thereto, and for determining the method of'payment for said improvement and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement. The costs and expenses in connection with the construction of said improvements, including engineering, inspection, advertising, publication of notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted. B -1479, AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 3 -808, commonly known as the "Fire Prevention Code" entitled, "AN ORDINANCE prescribing regulations for prevention of and protection from fire; regulating the use, storage, keeping, manufacture and trans- portation of conbustiable substances, flammable oils and hazardous.materials and processes in the City of Yakima, providing penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing ordinances numbered, A ®746, B -19, A -769, A -761, A -98, A ®762, and all amendments thereto and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict therewith." Moved by Huza,, seconded by Huey, that Ordinance No. B -1479, amending the present fire Code, be passed as read, carried:, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call, Mayor Burns absent.
