G. W. Burns, Stephen H. Huza and Grant E. Huey, having heretofore been elected to the
offices�of Mayor,. Commissioner of Finance and Accounting and Commissioner of Public Works,
respectively, at a. General City Election held on the 10th day of March 1953, and sa -id
election providing that such officials should take office on the First Monday in June of
the: year 1953, and sad officials having taken the oath of office before a Judge of the
Superior Court of Yakima County, Washington, and having filed their respective bonds] in
the office of the County Clerk of said Yakima County as provided by law, said newly in-
ducted officials do now proceed to conduct the business of the City of Yakima as the,City
Commission of said City:
This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of alley paving in Blocks,
311 and 391 Capital Addition, L.I.D.. No. 754:, the following was the only bid received -,
Lone Pine Paving Co., in the sum. of $3',342.,50.. Engineer's estimate $4,276.0,5.
This being the time for receiving bidsfor the construction of Curbs and Gutters on 28th
and 29th Avenues South,, L..I..D. No.. 756, the following bids were received:

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that upon recommendation of the Planning Commission,
the request of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, that Lots 7 to 16 inclusive, of Block:

RESOLUTION NO. C -1061, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA,
WASHINGTON:
That it is its intention to construct an irrigation system to serve the
following described property, situate in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington,
to-wit:.
Lots. 5, 6 and the west 33.3 feet of Lot 7 of Larsents Home Sites;..
Lots l.to 20 inclusive of the Marquis Subdivision;.- and the north
150 feet of the south° 165 feet of the east 375 feet of Section 18;
Township 13 North, Range 19, E.W.M;

said improvement to consist of the construction of a.well,. pumping system-and the install -
ation of necessary mains, la tercels, service ennections and other appurtenances for the
purpose of delivering water for irrigation purposes to each lot within the proposed dis-
trict described above; and to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and speci
fications to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement are hereby notified
to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be
held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, at
the hour of 10 :00 o'clock A.M., on Monday, the 22nd day of June, 1953;: which time and
place are hereby fixed for the heatng of all matters relating to sal-d'-,proposed improvement
of objections thereto;- and for determining the method of payment for said improvement, and
the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hearing and of the intention
to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said- improvement, including the cost of acquiring right of
way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of notices, and. all other
expenses incidnet thereto, shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property
legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above descried; and
the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City,Commission at or prior to the
date fixed herein for said heaing, all of the data and other information required by law -
to be by him submitted.

Moved by Burns, seconded by-Huey, that Resolution-No. C--1062 providing for the closing of
the City Hall on Saturdays during the months of June, July and August of 1953, be adopted
as read, carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll'call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1062, WHEREAS, the employees of the City of Yakima, Washington, who work
at the City Hall are now working until 1;00 of clock P.M. on Saturdays of each week, and
V'y`I-IEREAS, it is deemed advisable to close the City Hal all day on Saturday during
the months of June, July and August of 1953;
NOW THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Yakima;
That the City Ball of the City of Yakima, Washington, shall be closed all day on
Saturdays during the months of June, July and August of 1953; and the employees of the
City of Yakima who work in the City Hall, shall not be regmred to work during said periods)
Adopted by the City Commission this lst day of June 1953.

Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that Ordinance No, B-.1462, providing for the amendment;
of Section 11 of Ordinance No. B-606, being the City Water Code, be passed as read,
carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on .roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 1462, AN ORDINANCE amending Section 11 of Ordinance No.-B-606 entitled
'SAN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the :operation of the Water Department of the
City of Yakima; providing °for rules regulating and fixing be use -and price of water,
supplied by the City and connections therewith; amending and regriting Ordinance A -988
as amended; providing penalties for the violation thereof;; repea;ling.certain ordinances-
and declaring an emergency ; "" as amended by Ordinance B -696 and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza, that the resignation of George E,. Clark, as City
Attorney is hereby accepted, but that his services be retained until his successor has:
been duly appointed and qualified, motion carried; Burns, Huza and voting aye on
roll call. •
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza, that the present personnel of the City of Yakima now
employed as City Clerk, City Treasurer, Engineer, Water Superinten dent, Street Foreman,
Meat Inspector, Building, Electrical and Plumbing Inspectorsbe reappointed to serve
during the pleasure of the City Commission, carried, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on
roll call.
Mayor Burns presented the name of Dick Greiner for the position of City Attorney. After
considerable discussion it was decided to adjourn until 2'. :00: o l clock P.M. for further
consideration of the; appointment of a City Attorney.
ADJOURNFsD MEETING, MOItDAY, JUNE lst, 1953, 2:00 of clock P.M.
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Huza +and
Huey present on roll_ call.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huza, that the matter of appointing a City Attorney to fill
the vacancy created by the resignation of George E. Clark be deferred until a later date.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza that the bid of DeBlasio Bros. in the sum of $4,592.71,
for constructing curbs and gutters. on the 28th, 29th Avenue District be accepted as the.
lowest and best bid, and the Mayorand City Clerk authorized to enter into a contract on
behalf of the City for doing said work, motion carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye
on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the bid of the Lone Pine Paving Company in the sum;
of $3,.342. -50, for alley paving districts in L..I.D. No. 764' -, be accepted as there were
no other bidders., carried: Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.

Moved by Huey, seconded by Huza, that the bid of the Rankin Equipment Company for a
centrifugal pump with 1500 gallons per minute under a head of 50 feet, in the sum of
$716.20 and a pump to deliver 1850 gallons per minute under a head of 50 feet, in the
sum of 6955.55 be accepted as the lowest and best bid,, carried; Burns, Huza and Huey
voting aye on roll call. i
There being no further business to transact, it was moved by Burnes -,, "seconded by Huey,
that we do now adjourn, 'carried;, Burns, Huza and Huey voting aye on roll call.
