The City Oommission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Carpenter and
Huey present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, May 11th 1953 were approved as read.
Moved-by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for receiving bids on the
Upland Way Curb and Gutter project, L.I.D. No. 751, the following were received:

The bid of De Blasio Bros. was accepted as the lowest and best bid, and the Mayor and
City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing
said work, carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that this being the time for the hearing on Reso=
lution No. C -1056, providing for the construction of a sidewalk, curbs and storm sewer
in the "'Uplands "' Addition and there being objection to the sidewalk and curbs construct -
ion It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1458 eliminating the sidewalk and curbing from
said di strict, retaining _the storm server and creating a Local Improvement District be
passed as read, carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 1458,, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by
constructing a concrete pipe storm sewer; establishing a Local Improvement District*,
providing for,the mejthod of payment therefor, and creating a special fund.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution
No. C -1057, providing for constructing curbs. and gutters on 28th and 29th Avenue South
from Bonnie Doon Avenue to Nob Hill Boulevard., and there being insufficient protest
against said improvement, or any part thereof; it is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1459
creating a.local improvement district be ?gassed as read, carried: Burns, Carpenter and
Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1459, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by-
grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters; establishing
a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating
a special fund.
Moved by Huey, seconded by 'Carpenter, that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give
notice to contractors by publication, for the construction of Curbs and Gutters ,)eginning
at the N.E. corner of Lot 40, Shaver Addition; thence southerly and parallel with 28th
Avenue South to Nob Hill Boulevard, L.I.D. No. 756;, said bids to be received on Monday,
June lst 1953,-,at 10;;:00 o'clock A.M., carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on
roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized to give notice
to Contractors by publication for the purchase of two (2) Centrifugal Pumps for the
Irrigation Department ;; said bids to be received on Mondev , , June lst 1953, at 10:00 o' clod?
K.M., carried :. Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
In compliance with the recommendation of the Yakima Chamber of Commerce relative to the
formation of an Airport Advisory Council to serve in an advisory capacity to the City
Commission, the following persons were selected by the City Commission to serve on said
Board: A,1 Baxter., 'fohn Burnside, Frank Cubberly, Jess Lindeman and W. 0. Wikstrom; the
term of office for ; ;aid Board to be determined at a later date.
Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Huey, that we do now adjourn, carried Burns, Carpenter
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
