AUGUST 18, 1952
The City Zommission met in regular session, Mayor Burns and Commissioners Carpenter and
Huey present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, August 11th, 1952, were approved as read.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that this being the time for the hearing on the
assessment roll in h*I.D.. No-. 734, and there being a petition filed of property owners:
in said district, who were- dissatisfied with the work;. It, was ordered that said.hearing
be continued for one creek, carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll: call..
Moved. by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for the hearing on the
assessment roll in L.I -.D. No® 726, and there':-being no ob jections1 in writing or 'otherwise
to said assessment roll, or, any part thereof: It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1388
confirming said assessment roll, or any part thereof, be passed as read, carried:: Burns,
Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 1388.9 AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local
Improvement District; No. 726 as created and established by Ordinance No. B ®1291 of the
Ordinances. of the City of Yakima.
> Moved by Huey, seconded by 'Carpenter, that the City Engineer having reported the com-
letion of the improvement in L.I.D,,. No. 723., said work is hereby accepted, and the City
Engineer authorized to prepare an assessment roll for said district and the City Clerk
insturcted to give notice of hearing on said district.f or Monday. %September 8th 1952,
at 10 ::00 o'clock A.M'.., carried:' Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call..
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that the claim of Anna Slasick against the City
of Yakima for damages alleged to have been sustained in the sum of $10,000.00 by reason
of falling on the sidewalk-on North 2nd Street in said City of Yakima, is hereby
denied, carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C-�1028, WHEREAS, Helen Remsberg is a former employee of the Yakima Public
Library, and as such employee, was under the Statewide City Employees Retirement system;
and
WHEREAS, the'said Helen Remsberg voluntarily left the employ of the Yakima
Public Library and withdrew her contributions to the Statewide City Employees Retirement:
system-P - and
WHEREAS, the said Helen Remsberg redeposited her contribution to the Retirement
System hereinabove referred to, and has .become &.member of another public retirement
system, namely, the City Employees Retirement System of the City of Seattle, Washington;
and
- WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has a credit in the f°'released matching contributions"
of the Statewide City Employees Retirement System from which would be taken funds to
match the re ®deposllt made by Helen Remsberg. Now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA,,
That, under the provisions of

carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.

Moved by Carpenter,. seconded by Huey, that the assessments for property that has been
annexed to the City since their lateral sewer has been constructed be paid.in cash at:
the time they take out a permit to be connected to the sewer, carried" Burns, Carpenter
and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Treasurer- be authorized and directed to
take partial payments on the Sewer Maintenance contracts on property outside of City of
Yakima until January 1st and thereafter the annual payment of $18.00 shall be collected
in advance on each contract, carried: Burns, :Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -13890 AN ORDINANCE providing for increased compensation to city employees
and providing for the expenditure of.money not provided for in the budget adopted by the
City Commission of the City of Yakima -for the fiscal year of 1952; declaring that a
public emergency exists and estimating the amount of money required to meet the public
emergency.
Moved by Carpenter, seconded by`Burna, that Ordinance No. B01389, heretofore introduced
on Monday August 11th, providing for increased compensation for City Employees, be passed
as read, carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that we do now adjourn, carried: Burns, Huey and
Carpenter voting aye on roll call*
