The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, May 12, 1952, were approved as read. Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1011, providing 'for the cons.truction of curbs, gutters and sidewalks on Landon Avenue and other streets more particularly described in said resclutin, and there being objections in writing and in person to said improvement:. It is ordered that the City Engineer be instructed to check said protests and that another hearing be aet far Monday, May 26, 1952 at 10:00 oQciock A.M.; carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO.. B- 1369, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by grading, ballasting, surfacing and constructing concrete curbs and gutters; establishing • Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment'.=therefor, and creating • special fund., Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, this being the hearing on Resolution No. C- 1013, providing for the construction of curbs and butters on 42nd Avenue North and other streets more particR.11arly described in said resolution, and there being no objections, 1. in writing or otherwise to said improvement or any part thereof: It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -1369 creating Local Improvement District No.. 738, be passed as read: carried, Burns., Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1370, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of . funds not provided for in the 1952 budget, and authorizing the purchase of real property described as: That part of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter, Section 25,, Township 13 North, Range 18,; E.11V.M., described as follows: Beginning at a point 30 feet west and 105.9 feet south of the northeast corner of said subdivision;: thence west 143.25 feet; thence south 49 feet,. 10 -1/5 inches ;; thence east 143.2535 feet; thence ncr th to the point of beginning, Yakima County, Washington, for street equipment and decaring an emergency. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Huey, that Ordinance No. B -1370 be passed. as read: carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. _ C- 10:18, WHEREAS.,. the Department of Highways of the State of Washington plans to conduct an origin and destination traffic survey-in the: city of Yakima, and WHEREAS, a.study and survey of the arterial street system, the feasibility of the improved routes through the city, proposed railroad grade crossings, and other. traffic safety requirements are for the best interests of the City of Yakima. NOW, THERE1' ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION of the City of Yakima that it is for the best interests: of the City of Yakima to participate in the origin and, destination traffic survey to be made in the City of Yakima by the Department of Highways of the State -of Washington, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Yakima pay to the Department of Highways of the State of Washington, the sum of $4,824.57 as its share in the cost of said survey,., and that said sum be allocated for said * purpose in the 1953' budget of the, City of Yakima. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Clerk be authorized to give notice to bidders for the purchase of a: Chip Spreader for the Street Department ;, said bids to b e received on Monday, June 9th, 1952:at 10;00 o1clock A.M.: carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll: call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Carpenter, that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give notice to bidders for the removal of two houses on the p? ope rty at 606 Broadway;; one to be moved within 30 days and one to be moved within 60 days from the date of opening bids said b ids to be ope ned on Monday, June 9, 1952. at 10 :00 o'clock A..M.•: carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Carpenter, seconded by Huey, that the bids, heretofore received for a motorcycle for the Police Department be rejected and further arrangments for transportation be made at a later date: carried, Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns,. that the City Attorney is hereby instructed to prepare an ordinaz ce changing the names of the following streets: That Moxee Avenue from its intersection with East Yakima Avenue to the easterly City Limits, be changed to Terrace Heights Way. That North Avenue from the Northern Pacific tracks to its easterly limits, be changed to East "'I" Street.
