The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, January 21st, 1952, were approved as read. Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter . into a contract for and on behalf of the City of Yakima, with L-.-H. Sanford, for a portion of the Sewage Disposal grounds for a period of one year,-for the sum of 75000: carried; Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll call. Moved by Burns, seconded by Carpenter, that the City of Yakima refuse to sign a contract with .-the United States Department of Justice for permission to use the City Jail for federal prisoners: carried, Carpenter, Burns and Huey voting aye on roll ca Ill. Moved by Carp.enter, seconded by Burns, that this being the time for receiving bids on a coupe for the Engineers Department, a- z ton Pick -up truck for the Fire Department and 14 tires and tubes for various other departments, said bids were opened and read by the City Clerk and awards made as follows:'. Lovering Tire Co. - on 6 - 12 ply Hi-miler Goodyear ?Tires and Tubes in. the sum of 4441.99 4 - 12 ply, Himiler Tires and Tubes in the.sum of $384.19. Firestone Stores. - 4 - 12 ply all traction HD Tires $307.56 4 Transport tubes $16.49. Burrows Motor Co.. - for a 1951 Ford 6 cylinder coupe for Engineer in the sum of 1,417.95. Wagner Chevrolet Co. - for 1952 2 ton truck, Pick -up, in the sum -of 1, T90.00. carried: Burns, Carpenter and Huey voting aye on roll calla Moved by Burns, seconded. by Carpenter, that the hearing heretofore held on the 21st day of January, 1952, and continued until this date on Resolution No. C -996,. providing for curbs and gutters on Prasch and Logan Avenues, be abandoned for the reason that a sufficient protest was filed against it, and upon recommendation of the Engineers report as follows: The City Commission Yakima, Washington Gentlemen I have reviewed the protest petition against the Prasch Avenue and Logan Avenue Curb and Gutter District and find as follows:• Taking this District as a whole the protest is 34.22% Prasch Ave. alone from Broadway to 4th Ave. 85.27% Logan Ave. alone from Cornell to 7th..Ave. '! 99.65% By eliminating Prasch Avenue from Broadway to 4th. Avenue, and also Logan Avenue from Cornell to.7th. Avenue, the protest would be 18:88%. Taking Prasch Avenue alone from 4th Avenue to 5th. Avenue the protest is 51.78%; taking Prasch Avenue alone from 5th. Avenue to 6th. Avenue, the protest is 34.75%. By eliminating Prasch Avenue from Broadway to 6th. Avenue, and also Logan Avenue.from Cornell to 7th Ave., the protest amounts to 9.58% on the balance of the District. There is a sketch herewith showing the p?otests in Blue. Yours very truly,. AND MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN ITS FOUNDARISS,. TO LEND MUTUAL AID AND ASSISTANCE PURSUANT TO CHAP- TER 178 OF THE 19.,61 LAWS OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION C -999 WHEREAS, the Washington Civil Defense Act of 1951.,. being Chapter 178 of the 1951 Laws enacted by the Legislature of the State of Washington, authorizes Mutual Aid Agreements between the various counties of this state and the cities, towns, and municipalities within .their respective boundaries, for mutual. aid and assistance in event of military attack. and other disasters•;; and,; WHEREAS, the Yakima County Civil. Defense Council has'been organiz=ed and now is.functioning on a county -wide basis, including all cities and towns in the county for Civil Defense purposes;. and to further such mutual.. aid program the Civil Defense C.ouricil.has submitted a "Mutual Aid Agreement" between Yakima County and the par- ticipating municipalities within this county,,vh.ich this Board approves for signature;. NOW THEREFORE,, IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED, by the Board of City Commissioners. of the City of Yakima, Washington, that the "Mutual Aid Agreement ", and the provisionss, thereof, a copy of the same being attached,to thisResolution and incorporated herein by reference is adopted and approved to-provide mutual aid and assistan ce. in event of military attack and other disasters for, and between Yakima County, and the participating cities and.towns within its boundaries; and IT FURTHER IS RESOLVED that the Mayor, end his Clerk are authorized and directed to sign, attest, and execute the same as the act and on behalf of the City of Yakima, Washington, and.its Board of City Commissioners.
