The City Commission met in regular session, mayor Burns and Commissioner Huey present on
roll call. Carpenter absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, June 25, 1951, and adjourned meeting
thereof, were approved as read.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that this -being the time for receiving "bids on a six
cylinder sedan for the Police Department; the bid of the Burrows Motor Company, in the
sum of $1,783.03 less. trade -in of old car of $750.00, or the sum of $1,033.03, being
the only bid received, same was accepted: carried Burns and Huey voting aye on roll
call. Carpenter absent.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, 'that the City Engineer, having reported the complet-
ion of the Lincoln Avenue and 31st Avenue North curb and gutter district in L.I.D.
No. 593 by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted and the City Engineer author-
ized to prepare an assessment roll for said district and the City Clerk instructed to
give notice of hearing on said roll for Monday; July 23, 1951, 'at 10 o'clock A.M.:
carried Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Carpenter absent.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Engineer, having reported the complet-
ion of the improvement of the 8th Avenue South curb and gutter district, L.I.D. No. 694
by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted, and the City Engineer authorized to
prepare an assessment roll for said district, and the City Clerk instructed to give
notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, July 23, 1951,-at 10 0' clock A.M..:- carried
Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Carpenter absent.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Engineer, having reported the complet-
ion of the improvement of the 4th Avenue South from Lenox to Viola curb and gutter
district, L.I.D. No. 695, by the contractor, said work is hereby accepted and the 'City
Engineer authorized to prepare an assessment roll for said district and the- City.Clerk
instructed to give notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, July 23, 1951, at 10
o'clock A.M.: carried Burns and Huey voting aye on roll call. Carpenter absent.
Moved by Huey, seconded by Burns, that the City Engineer, having reported the complet-
ion of the paving of various alleys in L.I.D. No. 700, by the contractor, said work is
hereby accepted, and the City Engineer authorized to prepare an' assessment roll for
said district, and the City Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on said roll
for Monday, July 23, 1951, at 10 o'clock A.M. carried Burns and Huey voting aye on
roll call. Carpenter absent.
Moved by Burns, seconded by Huey, that Resolution No. C -983, relative to the restora-
tion of air service in the - City.of Yakima be adopted as read: carried Burns and Huey
voting aye on roll call. Carpenter absent.'
RESOLUTION NO. !C -983, WHEREAS, the Civil Aeronautics Board has instituted a proceeding
to determine whether public convenience and necessity require the authorization of
certain air service to and from Yakima, Washington, and other cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has filed with other local municipal-
ities a petition of intervention in said proceeding, and deems it of vital importance
that it be properly represented; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THEICITY OF YAKIMA:
That Gilbert W.• Burns, Mayor, G. E. Clark, City Attorney,
Phil M. Philips and Edward M. Morrissey, President and Assistant Manager, respectively,
of the Yakima Chamber of Commerce, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to.
appear before the Civil Aeronautics. Board as representatives for and on behalf of the
City of Yakima; and to present such evidence, offer such testimony; call upon such
witnesses; and file such pleadings, exhibits and briefs, as they may deem of value and
pertinent to the proceedings which are or may be scheduled for hearing, in support of
the petition in intervention of said City of Yakima.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY 'COMMISSION this 2nd day of July, 1951.
