The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and
Clark present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, December 6, 1948, be approved as read.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on :Resolutiol
No. C -806 providing for the construction of curbs and gutters on Bonnie Doone Ave.
from 26th Avenue South to 29th Avenue South and other streets in said district, and
there being a protest on the part of certain property owners as to the sort of work to
be done; It is ordered that said hearing be postponed to Monday, February 7, 1949, at
10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the City Planning .Commission having heretofore
recommended that the property at E. Yakima Ave. and Fair Ave. be changed from B. Class
Residence District to a Business District; the City Attorney is hereby instructed to
prepare an ordinance to comply with said recommendation: carried Buck, Bishop and
Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -809, WHEREAS Edith Velikanje, a widow, did on November 29th, 19481V
file with the 'City Commission her duly verified claim for damages in the amount of
$94.88, said damages arising out of the alleged negligence of the agents and employees
of the City Water Department of the City of Yakima in damaging the claimant's sewer
pipe so as to cause water therefrom to back up onto and flood her residence, said
damage having been discovered on November 4, 1948; and it appearing that it is for the
best interests of the City of Yakima to allow, pay and settle said claim in full,
NOW,•THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF YAKIMA :
That the claim of Edith Velikanje, a widow, for damages sus-
tained by the alleged negligent damage to a sewer line upon her property in the (City
of Yakima by agents and employees of the Water Department of the !City of Yakima on or
about September 20, 1948, ° said damage being discovered on or about November 4, 1948,
be allowed and settled by the payment to said claimant of the.sum of $94.88 and the
City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to draw a warrant upon the proper
fund of the City of Yakima in said amount to the order of said claimant in full settle-
ment of said claim.

RESOLUTION NO. C -810, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE (CITY OF YAKIMA,WN:
That it is its intention to improve the property lying within
the following described district by constructing pipe sewers with the necessary Wye
branches, manholes, flush tanks and water connections therefor; also storm sewer with
the necessary catch basins, etc. to be laid in,same trench above the sewer, all of
said improvements to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specification;
to be prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The district to be served by and specially benefitted by and
assessed for the above described improvment is situate within the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, and is bounded as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the North line of
Summitview Avenue and the East line of Grandview
Avenue, thence North along the East line of Grand-
view Avenue to the North line of Village Heights
Addition; thence East along the North line of said
addition to the East line of said Addition; thence
South along the East line of said Addition to the
North line of Foulkes Plat (unrecorded); thence
East along the North line of said plat to the West
line of 30th Avenue North; thence south along the
West line of 30th Avenue South to a point 130 feet
North of Summitview Avenue; thence West along the
North line of Lot No. 2 in said plat; thence South
along the West line of said Lot No. 2, to the North
line of Summitview Avenue; thence West along the
North line of said Avenue to point of beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of
the City :'Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M; on Monday, the 10th day of
January, 1949, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters
relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of
notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by and assessed
against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by
law and as.above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the
City Commission at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data
and other information required by law to be by him submitted.
