The minutes of the regular meeting of December 11, 1957 were approved as read. An ordinance providing for the expenditure of $5880.00 for the salary of a deputy engineer, said salary not to exceed $490.00 per month, for the en.ineering department, said sum not having been provided for in the 1958 budget, was read for the lst time and ordered laid on the table for one week, to be read again and considered at the next regular meeting of the City Commission on Thursday the 26th day of December, 1957 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt'-and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, secorded by Alderson that Resolution No. C -1550 transferring the sum of $33,510.19 from'the Water Revenue Bond Redemption fund to the Water Sewer Fund and cancelling Coupon No. 20 and Bond No. 34, be passed as`readi carried; Alderson'`Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -1550, A RESOLUTION transferring the sum of $33, 510.19 from the Water Revenue Bond Redemption fund to the Water Sewer Fund, and cancelling Coupon No. 20 of Bond No. 34• WHEREAS, the current balance in t he Water Revenue Bond Redemp- tion Fund is 58,290.19, and WHEREAS, the sum of $24,780.00 only is required to pay the re- maining bonds outstanding plus the interest thereon, and WHEREAS, Coupon No. 20 of Bond No. 34 which became due March 1, 1946, has never been presented for payment, and the statute of limitations havin run' as to said coupon, and WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the city to cancel and coupon and transfer the remaining unencumbered balance to the Water Sewer Fund, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the City Treasurer is hereby authorized, em- powered and directed to transfer the sum of $33,510.19 representing the unencumbered balance in the Water Revenue.Bond Redemption Fund, from said fund to the Water Sewer Fund. Section 2. That Coupon No. 20 of. Bond No. 34 which became due March 1, 1946, is hereby cancelled. day of December, 19,57. ATTEST: J. A. RESOLUTION NO. C=15.51, A RESOLUTION providing for the transfer of funds within the 1957 appropriation of the Irrigation Department. WHEREAS, a surplus of funds exists in the item of the Irrigation, Department.appropriation in the 1957 Budget entitled "Clerical Help Furnished by Sanitation Department "; and WHEREAS, a shortage exists in various other items within said Irrigation Department appropriation; and WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it in the best interests of. the City to make the transfers provided for herein; and WHEREAS, the action contemplated herein is authorized by R.C.W. 35. 33.120 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That $885.00 be and the same is hereby transferred from the "Clerical Help Furnished by Sanitation Department" in the Irrigation Department appropriation in the 1957 Budget to the Electric Power, Office Supplies, Stamps, etc., and Retirement Fund in the respectiveiamounts of $300.00, $135.00, and $L�50.00, all of said items being tithin the "Maintenance and Operation" classification in said appropriation and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make the aforementioned transfers as provided for "herein. An ordinance providing for the expenditure of $3,000.00 for paying laborecost and an emergency-now existing, said ordinance also transferf;ing $1,000.00 within the 1957 Budget of the Municipal Garbage Department, was read in full by the City Clerk and ordered laid on the table for one week, to be read again and considered at the next regular meeting of the City Commission on the 26th day of December, 1957• The City Engineer reporting the completion-by the contractor of L.I.D. No. 854, being the Arlington Avenue Paving District, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews said work be and is hereby accepted and the City Engineer instructed to prepare the assess- ment roll and the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to give notice by publication and to each property owner of hearing on said assessment roll for the 15th day of January, 1957 at the hour of 10 otclock a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again at the hour of 2 o'clock p.m. on this same day to consider the matter of the continued hearing on Resolution No. C -1546: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, WEDNESDAY; DECEMBER, 18, 1957, 2 OICLOCK P.M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews . present on roll call. Mayor Alderson absent. This being the time for the continued hearing on Resolution No. C -1546, being a resolution of intention to co nttruct an Irrigation system on South 24th Avenue, area to be included in local improvement fully described.in said resolution, and the City Engineer reporting 42.1% protest of the total cost of the project and the City Clerk having read a letter of protest signed by the property owners, Commissioner Schutt announced that the City of Yakima is in favor of creating this local improvement distric and suggested that-the people in the area get together and work out their problem if possible and that no further notice of public hearing will be given. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular session on Thursday the 26th day of December, 1957 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m.: carried, Achutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
