NOVEMBER 19, 1956
The City Commission met in special session, meeting being called at 3:15,o' clock p.m.,
Commissioner znd .Acti.. C - Mayo.r` Schutt, �Cor�mi"ssiorier" " Mat hews—and- City "At.torney.;- Hawkin
present on roll call.
Due to the death of Carl H. Behnke, duly elected Mayor of the City of Yakima and in
accordance with the City Charter, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that
Resolution No. C -1133 apointing Joseph K. Alderson to the office of Mayor to serve
durirg.the balance of the term of Carl H. Behnke and until his successor is elected and
qualified, be passed as read: carried, Schutt and Mathews,voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C- 1133, A RESOLUTION appointing mayor.
WHEREAS, the untimely death of Carl Behnke has left the City
of Yakima without a mayor and
WHEREAS, Under the C.ty Charter the surviving members of the
City Commission are empowered to fill the vacancy of the mayor, and
. WHEREAS ", it is desired to make an official record of the
appointment of.the successor of Cdrl Behnke as Mayor of the ,City of Yakima, NOW, THERE-
FORE,
BE IT RESOLVED FY THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That .JOSEPH K. ALDERSON be, and he is hereby appointed Mayor
of the City of Yakima to fill the vacancy created in the office of the'Mayor by the
death of Carl Behnke, to serve during the balance of the term of Carl_ Behnke and until
his successor is elected and qualified.
DONE at a regularly helding meeting of the City Commission on
the 19th day of November, 19[6.

Due to the absence of a City Commission, the regular meeting of November 19, 1956, at
10 otclock a.m. was not held. I .
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet in regular session
on Monday the 26th day of November, 1956 at 10 o ►clock a.m: carried, Mathews and Schutt
voting aye on roll call.,
