HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/10/1958 Business Meeting.388 SEPTEMBER 10, 1958 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews and City Attorney Arntson present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting of September 3, 1958 were approved as read. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Resolution No. C -1618 providing for the ex- pending of an additional $179.19 for the purchase of a two drum cable unit as originally authorized by Resolution No. C -1600, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -1618, WHEREAS, on the 18th day of June, 1958, the City Commission of the City of Yakima adopted Resolution No. C -16000 declaring an emergency and author- izing the Sanitation Department of the City of Yakima to purchase a used two drum cable unit from Webb Tractor & Equipment Company, Yakima; Washington, for a total cost bf not to exceed 419500.00 and, WHEREAS, it was thereafter determined that the.purchase price of said used two drum cable unit was the total sum of $1,679.19 and,. - WHEREAS,- an emergency existed and exists for the purchase of said used two drum cable unit, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City_ Commission, of the City of Yakima that the Sanitation Department of the City of Yakima be, and it hereby is, authorized to expend the additional sum of $179.19 for the purchase of the used two drum cable unit, as authorized by Resolution No. C -1600, adopted by the City Commission o$ June 181 1958. And the City Treasurer of the City of Yakima be, and she hereby is, author- ized and directed to pay said additional sum of $179.19 to Webb Tractor & Equipment Company of Yakima, Washington for such purchase. ORDINANCE NO. B -2198, AN ORDINANCE providing for the vacation of street of the City of Yakima described as follows, to`wit: Those parts of Lots 47, 48 and 49 of St. Paul Acre Lots of Yakima County, according to the official plat th.ereof.now on file and of record in the office of the Auditor of Yakima County, being a strip of land 50 feet in width lying east of and adjacent to and parallel with the westerly boundary line of said lots extending southerly to a point 19 feet south of the north line of Lot 42 of said St Paul Acre Lots extended; and the south 31 feet of Lot 41 of said St. Paul Acre Lots - extended east to the center line of Clark Street vacated, and that part of Lot 47 of sa said St. Paul Acre Lots lying within,50 feet south of the line which is 31 feet north of the south boundary line of Lot 41 of said St. Paul Acre Lots extended, and the north 19 feet of Lot 42 of said St. Paul Acre-Lots extended to the center line of Clark Street, vacated; Mayor Alderson reported that he alked to Tom Paddison regarding a right.of way for the Lenox Overpass and about the Wasfrngton Canners Coopera v a and felt that in time an arrangement could be developed for ,a right-of-wa y . ��Ge.�('�. -�� to Commissioner Matkews note:,"I=:wishthe minutes /contain the notation that this action to vacate is taken after assurances from the Mayor that the C'ityfs interest i/ providing for the orderly developement of Lenox Avenue is protected by a tentative agreement with the Washington Canners Cooperative." Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to call for bids for the drilling of two wells for domestic water supply in accordance �-I- with the request from the City Engineer: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. An ordinance providing.for the expenditure of $1,600.00 for the purchase of law books for the Legal Department was read in its entirety and ordered °laid on the table for one week to be read and considered'again at the next regular meeting of the City Commission on Wednesday, the 17th day of September, 1958. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular session on Wednesday the 17th day of September, 1958 at the hour of 10 o ►clock a.m. carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
