Commissioner Schutt absent. The minutes of the regular meeting.of August 20, 1958, were approved as read. This being the time for the hearing on a petition praying for the vacation of portions of Lots 47, 48 and 49 of St. Paul Acre Lots., said' petition having been filed by.Rachel Whitaker, it was•MOVED by•Mathews, seconded by Alderson that action be tabled on said Petition un.til investigation of properties is made and a satisfactory agreement is reached with the cannery'on Lenox Avenue: carried, Alerson and Mathews. voting aye,on roll call. Schutt absent. Bids having been received August ,20, 1958 fort he purchase of a 4" centrifugal pump and the bid of Sahlberg Equipment Company on a 44 Marlow Pump in the amount of $870.58 including sales tax, being the lowest and best bid, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that said bid be awarded: carried, Alderson and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Schutt absent. Bids having been received August 20, 1958 for the purchase of 11 lights for alarm boxes for the Fire Department and the Alarm Superintendent .reporting that insufficient in- formation was received with said bids, it was ordered . that the awarding of this bid be be set aside until the next regular meeting of the City Commission. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the petition of Picatti Bros. praying for the annexation of the Ez of E? of SW4, NW4, NE4 of Section 23, Township 13 North, Range 18, E.W.M., Except the North 150 feet thereof, is hereby accepted and the City Clerk be and is hereby instructed to post notice of hearing in three public places on the propert §ought to be annexed and to publish notice of hearing as required by law, said hearing to be held on Wednesday the 17th day of September, 1958 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m: carried, Alderson and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Schutt absent. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that Albert L. Gaudette be allowed to reinstate his pension rights with the Statewide City Employees Retirement System by redepositing funds withdrawn and the City Clerk be and is hereby instructed to advise said retirement system tb..ta.ke matching funds from the City of Yakima surplus: carried, Alderson, acid Mathews voting aye on roll call. An Ordinance providing for a full time legal stenographer and salary was read by the City Clerk for the first time and laid on the table for one week to be read and consider ed at the next regular meeting of the City Commission on September 3rd, 1958. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that Resolution No. C -1615 submitted by the State Highway Department authorizing the City Commission to convey a parcelz of land to to the State Highway for the improvement of Highway No. 5, Jacobson to Fruitvale Blvd., and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the necessary deeds for said transaction, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt an.d Mathews voting aye on roll call. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of Yakima, that the City of Yakima in accordance with Chapter 266 of the laws of 1943, and through its Mayor and City Clerk, execute said deeds, and deliver said deeds to the State of Washington, Department of Highways.
