Attorney Arntson present on roll-call. The minutes of the regular meeting of August 13, 1958 were approved as read. Bids having been received on the 13th day of August for the purchase of paint and thin- ner for the Sewage Disposal Plant, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be rejected and that the St. Engineer and the Purchasing agent be and are here- by authorized to purchase said paints and thinners on the open market: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being the time for receiving and considering bids for the purchase of eleven (11) identifying lights for alarm boxes for the Fire Department and the following bids having been received and read The Gamewell Company, Oswego, Oregon $729.30 Phon Alarm Division of Angel US Ind. Inc., Los Angeles, California $444.95 it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that said bids be referred to the Alarm Superintendent and Purchasing; Agent for recommendation:. carried, Alderson, Schutt and - 4thews voting aye on roll call. This being the time for receiving bids for the purchase of a.4" centrifugal pump for the Water Department; and the following bids having been received Cox Machinery Co., Seattle, Wash. Model 4 -PW -Jaeger. F.O.B. Yakima $1160.00 Model 4 -P Jaeger F. 0. B. Yakima (alternate) 01430.00 Emmette Taylor & Sons, Sunnyside, Washington Universal Model ZC40M $1005.23 Jack Sahlberg .Equipment Co., Seattle, Wash. Model 4c4 Marlow Pump F.O.B. Yakima 842.50 Model 4c7 Marlow Pump F.OQB. Yakima (alternate.$ 985.50 it was MOVED by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that said bids be referred to the Street Engineer and Purchasing Agent for recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being; the time for hearing on Resolution No. C -1611, providing for the improvement of portions of 1�lst Avenue North, Barge Avenue (a culdesac on North 38th Avenue alley in Block 352 Yordyts Suppelmental Addition and 40th Avenue by grading ballasting and surfacing and there being considerable protest to the improving of Barge Avenue it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schiltt that Ordinance No. B -2193 creating Local Improvement District No. 867, be passed deleting, Parge Avenue from 42nd Avenue to 4_1st Avenue from the district: carried, Alderson, Schutt and I 'liath.ews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -2193, providing for the improvement of certain property by grading, ballasting, surfacing with'asphaltic concrete, together with the necessary drainage features; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment thereof, and creating a special fund. An ordinance increasing the salary of the Building Inspector and providing for a trans- fer of funds was introduced and laid on the table at the regular meeting of the City Commission on August; 6,.1958 and now aving its second reading, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that said ordinance be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE N0. B -2194, AN ORDINANCE increasing the"" salary of the building inspector, providing for a transfer of funds to provide for the payment of the increased salary of the building inspector and declaring an emergency. An Ordinance providing for a full time City Attorney and salary for said position, having been read at the re_;ular meeting of the Cit3, Commission on August 6, 1958 for the first time and now having itts second reading, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2195 be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews vo�tinr, aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -2195, AN ORDINANCE providing for a full time City Attorney, providing a salary commensurate with such full time employment and declaring an emergency. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular session at the hour of 10 otclock a.m. on Wednesday the 27th day of August, 1958: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
