No City Attorney present. The minutes of the regular meeting of June 25, 1958 were approved as read. This being the time for receiving bids for the sale of city owned property it the form of scrap iron and the following bids having been received: Webb Tractor Company - x'85.00 br. compressor 915.00 for motor and pump Chicago Junk Company - 13.50 per ton it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be referred to the Street Engineer for recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that Resolution No. C -1604 authorizing the sale of the East 746 feet of the South Half of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section -35, Township 13 North, Range 18 E.W.M., or a portion of the property now belonging to the Tahoma Cemetery, for the sum of $10,000.00,to the United States Government for a Naval Reserve Center , be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -16042 A RESOLUTION authorizing the 'sale of the East 746 feet of the South Half' of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 35, Township 13 North, Range 18 E.W.M. WHEREAS, the `'ity of- Yakima is the owner of the following de- scribed real property situated in Yakima County, State of Washington, to -wit: The east 746 feet of the south half of the south half of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter.of Section 35, Townhip 13.-north, range 18 E.W.M., Except the "north 30 feet conveyed to Yakima County for road by instrument recorded April 19, 1951, under Auditor's file No. 1358655, and EXCEPT County road along the east line of said subdivision; situate in the County of Yakima, State of Washington, and containing 4.85 acres of land, more or less. by reason of a deed therefor issued by theNATION AL BANK OF COMMERCE OF SEATTLE, Trustee,, YNhima Branch, to said City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, it appears to be for the best interest of said City of Yakima to sell said premises to the United States Government for a Naval Reserve Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Yakima, Washington: That said above described property be and they,are hereby authorized to be sold to the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT for the total sum of "den Thousand and no/100 (10,000.00) Dollars, and the Mayor, Joe K. Alderson, is hereby authorized to execute a deed to said premises, and the City Clerk, J. A. ALDERSON Mayor An ordinance amending Ordinance No. B -2095 known as the Zoning Code, said ordinance . having to do with service station zoning, was read by the City Clerk and it was DIOVED by Mathews that said ordinance be passed as read; This motion lost for want of a 'second. T'he_.r'eppesentatives of various oil companies present, requested that they be allowed to make their report on gasoline deliveries at the Municipal Airport later in the month, rather than the 10th of the month as ordered by Ordinance No. B -2174 because this early date works a hardship on their accounting systems: The City Commission favored their request. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Alderson that Resolution No. C -1605 authorizing the Fire Department to purchase uniforms without calling for bids, be passed as read: carried, Alderson Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -1605, A RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of uniforms for the City o of Yakima Fire Department without calling for bids; and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Fire-Department-to purchase to purchase immediately, uniforms consisting of 2 uniform caps,.,2 uniform cap tops, 5 uniform jackets, 1 cap strap and 20 pairs of.unifor.m trousers; and. WHEREAS, informal bids have been submitted and A. G. Meir and Company - have quoted the lowest and best price, towit: unit price, i?ants $23.55, Coats $47.90, Jackets 27.85, Caps $5.50 and $6.50, Cap Tops $2.50 for the above mentioned items; and WHEREAS, an emergency exists, because it takes at least ninety days (90) for delivery, and these items are needed immediately; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, 365 �366 JULY 2, 1958. That an emergency exists because of the immediate need of said uniforms, and said Fire Department is authorized to make the foregoing purchase without calling for bids because of such emergency. ALDERSON Mayor A letter addressed to the City,Commission, written by Commissioner of Public Works, Laurence C. Mathews„ recommending the final payments-,to the Great American Indemnity Company in the'sum of $788.56 and to Goodman Construction Company in the sum of $684.34 on the South Interceptor Sewer-Project, having been read by the Clerk, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the $788.56 be paid to the Great American Indemnity Company, but that the bill of $684.er" for Goodman Construction Company be held for fur- ther consideration:. carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. A letter by the ,Street and Traffic Engineer recommending the extention of employment for Carl Mogren and Rudolph Huebner, employees of the Water Department who are now past the compulsory retirement age of 65 as- specified by the-Statewide City Employees Retirement law, and city Resolution No. C -1596, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that employment for both men be extended for one year: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.. An ordinance amending Ordinance No. B -1827 adopting with certain exceptions the Uniform Building Code, 1955 Edition, said ordinance providing that the new Y.M.C.A. building located at Naches and Yakima Avenue be included within the exceptions since it has been determined that ,it is adequately protected against fire, having been read by the Clerk, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that said ordinance be tabled for further consrideration: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that the damage claim filed by Letha Yeigh in the amount of $77.73 be tabled for further consideration: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. The City Engineer reporting the following monthly estimates for work performed on City projects during the month of June, 1958, for payment: Walters Construction Company Industrial Wastes 116,975-44* 31,545.28 Central Heating & Plumbing Coa Industrial Wastes De Blasi.o Bros. Lincoln &. 30th Ave., Storm Drain 993.75 C & E Construction Co. South l_th Ave & Various Streets L.I.D. 862 $22,088.17 it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue the necessary warrants in payment of said estimates: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -2183 fixing the time of de- linquency and prescribing the form of bonds for L.T.D. No. 859, being the Suburban Acre ?-comes Sewer District, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. `ORDINANCE NO. B -2183, fixing the time of delinquency of installments of assessments levied for the payment of the cost of the improvement in Local Improvement District No. 859 and providing for the issuance of bonds with coupons attached for the payment of the payment of the unpaid portion thereof. An ordinance creating the position of "Zoning Administrator - Building Inspector" and providing for the expenditure of $p3,000.00 for payment of salary for said position was read in its entirety by the City Clerk and laid on the table, to be read again and considered at the next regular meeting of the City Commission on July 9, 1958: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. An ordinance providing for the transfer of $3,000.00 from the Planning Department 1958 Budget, to the salary classification for the' "Zoning Administrator - Building Inspector in the Building Department was read by the City Clerk and it was MOVED by Mathews, that said Ordinance be,passed as read. Mayor Alderson seconded said motion providing said ordinance is legal. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular session at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday the 9th day of July, 1958: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
