MARCH 19, 1958
The City Commission met -in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews present on roll call. City Attorney absent.
Minutes of the postponed meeting of March 13, 1958, were approved as read.
This being the time for receiving bids for the privilege of sorting and removing salvage
from the City Dump, the following two bids were received:
Willie E. Banks - 1402 E. Beech Street, Yakima 106.00 per mth.
Charles Taylor - 1502 East Viola " 8105-00 1' It
it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the bids be referred to Mr. Sheeley,
Superintendent of the Sanitation Department, for recommendation: carried, Alderson,
Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
The City Clerk read an Appeal from Action of the Planning Commission, said appeal being
filed by W.W.Nettleship representing the Missionary Bible.Church and M. E. Herr. No
action was taken.
Bids having been received March 13, 1958 for bodily injury, property damage and fire and
theft insurance for the Cit of Yakima and the bid of the Goldade Insurance Agency being
the lowest and best bid on 400,0004300,000 Bodily Injury, $10,000.00 Property Damage
at $3,162.50 and fire and theft on all city equipment 1434.70, it was moved by Schutt,
seconded by Mathews that said bid be accepted: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews
voting aye on roll call.
Bids having been received March 13, 1958, for the 1958 supply of Chlorine and having
been taken under advisement by the City Commission, it was moved by Schutt, seconded by
Mathews that said bids be referred to Mr. Grimes, Superintendent of the Water Department,'
for his recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Alderson that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized
to advertise for bids for one pull type scraper of approximately six cubic yard capacity,il
cable operated, for the Sanitation Department, said bids to be received up to the hour
of 10 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday the 2nd day of April, 1958: carried, Alderson,,,-Schutt
and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to
call for bids for the printin of sheets and cover of the Plumbing Code, without binder,
(Ordinances B -2136 and B -2137T said bids to be received at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M.
Wednesday the 2nd day of April, 195$: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye
on roll call.
$7000.00 having been appropriated by Ordinance No. B -2144 for the construction of a
Storm Sewer in the vicinity of 29th and Lincoln Avenue, it was moved by Mathews, seconded
by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to call for bids for said
construction, said bids to be received up to the hour of 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, the
2nd day of April, 195$: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Schutt and seconded by Alderson that the City Clerk be authorized to call for
bids for one Desk Model Bookkeeping Machine for the Water Department, said bids to be
received up to the hour of 10:00 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday the 2nd day of April, 1958:
carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Schutt and seconded by Alderson that we.-do now adjourn to meet again in regular
session at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, the 26th day of March, 1958: carried, Alderson, Schutt
and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
