POSTPONED MEETING, THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 1958, 10:00 A.M. The City Commission met pursuant to postponement of the regular meeting of March 12th, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews and City Attorney Kenneth Hawkins present on roll call. The minutes of the :regular meeting of March 5, 1958, were approved as read. This being the time for receiving bids for liability insurance and property damage; also fire and theft, bids were received from the following companies: The Goldade Insurance Agency - 110,000 100,000/$300,000 Bodily Injury and property damage - 1 yr. Premium $3,162.50 - rr rr rr rr - total limit $230,000.00 coverage for fire and theft, for one year Premium $ 434.70 '--- Ackley - Alvestad Ins. Agency, Inc- 100,000/$300,000 Bodily Injury 110,000 property damage - 1 yr. Premium $4,456.67 rr rr rr rr ++ total valuation $230,000.00 coverage fire and theft, for one year Premium 546.25 Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that said bids be taken under advisement and . award made at the next regular meeting: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being the time for receiving bids for 100,000# of Chlorine for the Water Department, the following two bids were received: Van Waters & Rogers Seattle Pennsalt Chemical Corporation Tacoma the bids being exactly the same - 150# cylinders $12.50 - 2000# drums 7.25. 15 ton tank cars 130.00 per 'ton it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be awarded at the next regular meeting: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -2144 providing for the expendi. ture of $7,000.00 for Storm Sewer in the vicinity of 29th and Lincoln Avenue now having its second reading by the City Clerk, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B- 214.1, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds in the City Hall and Miscellaneous General Government not provided for in the 1958 Budget, and declaring an emergency. An Ordinance amending the 1958 Budget reclassifying certain personnel in the Fire Department, and declaring an emergency, was read for the second time by the City Clerk and tabled to be considered at some later date. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2145 zoning and rezoning certain specific property situated in the City of Yakima, more specifically described in said ordinance, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Bids having been received March 5, 1958, for the purchase of crushed rock for the street department, it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the recommendation of John Mayo, Street Engineer, be accepted and the awards made as follows: Crushed Rock -- Superior Concrete Company $7,9$$.00 Asphalt Mix -- Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. 31210.00 carried: Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Bids having been received March 5, 1958, for the purchase of three cars for the City of Yakima Police Department, it was moved by Schutt, seconded by Alderson that the recom- mendation of Oscar Soderstrom, Police Chief, be accepted and the award made to Ross Lynch Motor Company for three Oldsmobiles in amount of $505$.70 including trade -ins: carried, Alderson and Schutt voting aye. MARCH 13, 195$ WHEREAS, pursuant to Resoluti.on'No. C -155$ adopted by the City Commission on January 29, 1958, the City Consented to the Assignment of the Airport Ground Lease dated November 1$, 1953, from Ralph R. Richardson and Virginia S. Richardson, lessees, to the Small Business Administration, an agency of the United States Government, and WHEREAS, said governmental agency now requires the assignment of the Supplement- al Airport Ground Lease, dated October 31, 1955, and WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City to grant said request, I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Yakima the consent to assignment of the Supplemental Airport Ground Lease dated October 31, 1955, between the City of Yakima and Ralph R. Hand and Dorothy Hand and compromising the claim to $100.00, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. (RESOLUTION NO. C -156$1 A RESOLUTION compromising the claim of L. D. Hand and Dorothy Hand, husband and wife; WHEREAS, on February 6, 195$, a claim was timely filed by L. D. Hand and Dorothy Hand, husband and wife, against the City of Yakima in the sum of $155.44; and WHEREAS, consideration has been given to the merits of said claim, and WHEREAS, while said claim has some merit, the amount of damages sought appears to be excessive; and WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City to compromise said claim for the sum of $100.00; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the claim of L. D. Hand and Dorothy Hand, husband and wife in the sum of $155.44 be and the same is hereby compromised for the sum of $100.00 and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized, and directed to issue a warrant in payment of said claim chargeable against the City Hall Mtse. General Government Current Expense Fundp provided however, that the Treasurer shall not deliver said warrant to the claim- ant until a release is executed and filed with the City Clerk relieving and releasing the City from any additional and further liability in connection with this subject matter.
