The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioner Schutt and
Mathews and Assistant City Attorney Hoy- present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of January 2, 1950 were approved as read.
This being the time for the receiving of bids for the purchase of a truck chasis for
the Fire Department and the bid of Northwest Truck Sales, Seattle, Washington, in the
amount of $11040.30 including Sales Tax, F.O.B.Yakima, said bid including an alternate
bid in the amount of $11,030.30 F.O.B. Loganport Indiana, alternate_ bid including sales
tax, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that said bid be referred to the Fire
Chief, W. K. Moore for consideration and recommendation :tocbe: -submitted_-at-•thP next

aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2115 amending Ordinance No.
B -1526 being the Traffic Code for the City of Yakima, be passed as read: carried,
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ;'
ORDINANCE NO. B-2115;2 AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic,, travel and
transportation, and other incidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public;
prescribing .the powers and duties of officers-.and others in relation thereto; defining
offenses; providing penalties and amending Ordinance No. B -1526; and declaring an
emergency.
A damage claim having been filed against the City of Yakima by Virginia E. Charbonneau
in the sum of $49.40, said claim arising from injuries sustained when "the claimant
fell into an open water -meter box, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that
Resolution No. C-1553 authorizing the payment of said claim, be passed as read:- carried
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION N0. C -1553, WHEREAS, a claim for damages has been timely filed against the
City by Virginia E. Charbonneau, in the sum of.$49.40, arising from injuries sustained
when claimant fell into an open water meter box within the City of Yakima on or about
November 17, 1957, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City of
Yakima to allow said claim,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF YAKIMA:
That the claim of Virginia E. Charbonneau in' the sum of $49.40
be and the same is hereby,allowed and approved in said amount and the city treasurer is
hereby authorized and directed to issue a warrant in payment of said c' !aim. chargeable
against the Current Expense Fund, Miscellaneous General Government,;' Refunds and Damages;
provided however, that the treasurer shall not deliver said warrant'to the claimant
until a release is executed and filed with the City Clerk by the .above'" named claimant
relieving and releasing the city from any additional and further liability in connectinn
with this subij.ect with this subject matter.

Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2116 amending Ordinance No.
B -850, known as the Electrical Code, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt
and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE N0. B- 2116,. AN ORDINANCE adding Section 301 (a) (3) and amending Section
305 (a) all in Ordinance No. B -850, entitled: "An Ordinance to be known as the Electrica
Code of the City of Yakima for safeguarding life and-property by regulating the instal-
lation, alteration, repair, use and operation of electric wires, appliances, apparatus
and devices in or about building on private orpublic property; providing for the licens-
ing for regulation and revenue of electrical contractors, dealers and wiremen; definingg
approved electrical materials and appliances; prohibiting the sale or use of unapprovee_
materials and appliances; providing penalties for the violation hereof; repealing
Ordinance No. B -25 of the City of Yakima and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith. "; and amending Ordinance No. B -1211; and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that the 'City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to
call for bids for the prschaef� coveralls, cap frames; and tops, shoulder identificati
patches and name patcheb,69iid� bids to be received on Wednesday the 22nd day of January,
1957, at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt and'Mathews voting aye
on roll call.
vThe City Engineer reporting the completion by the contractor of local improvement
district No. 856, being the South 34th Avenue Curb and Gutter District, it was MOVED
by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the work be accepted and the City'Engineer instructed
to prepare the assessment roll and the City Clerk be authorized to give notice of hearing
on said assessemt roll for Wednesday the 29th day of January, 195$ at''the hour of 10
o'clock a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roil call.
The City Commission was in unanimous. agreement in requiesting of the Treasurer and Clerk
that the monthly reports should show the totals of the individual items of receipts and
expenditures from all funds.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular
session at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday the 15th day of `January, 1958:
