The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews and Assistant Attorney Loy present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of April 29, 1957 were passed as eor.rected.,
This being the time for hearing on Resolution No. C -1466, an Ordinance creating a local
improvement district was read and referred back to the City Attorney for rewriting since
the oral report of the City Engineer and property owners indicated that the protests in
Group "A" were more than the required amount of 60% to delete this area from the district
This being the time for receiving bids for the purchase of five new police cars, 1957
models, bids were received from Inland Motor Company and Burrows Motor Company, it was
moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that said bids be taken under advisement: carried,
Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for receiving bids on one new 1957 -1/2 ton pickup truck for the
Irrigation Department, the bid of Burrows Motor Company in amount of.$1934.11 being the
only bid received, it was moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that said bid be taken
under advisement: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
An Ordinance creating the position of "Administrative Assistant to the Planning Directorf'
and providing for the expenditure of $2120.00 for the payment of the salary of said
assistant was read for the first time and laid on the table to be read again at the
next meeting of the Commission on Monday May 13, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and
Mathews voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for receiving bids on an asphalt distributor for the street
department, the following bids were received:
Columbia Equipment Company in amount of 7278.$0 less tradein ol000.00 - J6278.00
Howard Cooper Company in amount of 15485.00 less tradein $1600.00 - 3$$5.00
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be referred to the City Engineer
for recommendation: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2021 rezoning certain specific
property situate at the Northwest corner of Third Avenue and West Lenox from "B"
Residence, Area 2,,, and. Business, Area 4, to Limited Business, Area 4,
-Area-4� be passed as read: carried, Alderson Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -2021. AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the
City of Yakima, Count of Yakima, Washington.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Alderson that Resolution No. C -1469 authorizing the Mayor
to execute a Receipt Agreement with Yakima County for the installation of water pipes,
valves, fire hydrant and appurtenances thereto, be passed as read: carried, Alderson,
Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1469. A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute a Receipt
Agreement with Yakima County for the installation of water
pipes, valves, fire hydrant and appurtances thereto.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign on
behalf of the City the Receipt Agreement between Yakima County and the City providing
for the installation of water pipes, valves, fire hydrant and appurtenances thereto, a
copy of which is attached hereto.

Moved by Schutt and seconded by Alderson that the report submitted by the Deputy City
Clerk on the employeest election held in accordance with the provisions of the State
Law Providing for cities participating in the Social Security.Program, said election
having been held May 3, 1957, theJproposition'being as follows:
"Shall positions occupied by all eligible employees of the
City of Yakima be included in the Social Security System,
effective January 1, 1957, co- ordinated with the.present
Statewide City Employees Retirement System ?"
and 139 eligible city employees voting "yes" on said proposition, be accepted as read
and the City Commission sign the necessary Agreement with the Employment Securities
Department: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Alderson that we do now adjourn to meet again at the hour
of 4:00 P.M. on this same day, Monday May 6, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and
Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ADJOURNED MEETING, MONDAY MAY 62 19572 4 OtCLOCK P.M.
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Alderson and Commissioner Schutt
present on roll call. Commissioner Mathews and the City Attorney absent.
Bids having been received at the hour of 10:00 A.M. on this same day for an asphalt
Distributor for the Street Department and the City Engineer recommending that the bid
of Howard Cooper Corporation to furnish a Model BX Etnyre Distributor for $5,485.00,
less trade, is the lowest and best bid, it was MOVED.by Alderson, seconded by Schutt
that this bid be awarded as per recommendation: carried, Alderson and Schutt voting
aye on roll call. Commissioner Mathews absent.
Moved by Alderson and seconded by Schutt that the report submitted by the City Treasurer
showing investments repaid in April 1957 be accepted as read: carried, Alderson and
Schutt voting aye on roll call. Mathews absent.

same day for the purchase of five new 1957 model cars for the Police Department be
rejected since certified check, bid bond, or cash was not included and the City Clerk
be and is hereby authorized to readvertise for bids specifying that bids be submitted
with tradein and without tradein and that the. inclusion of a certified check, bid bond
or cash be omitted from the advertisement, upon advice of the City Attorney: carried,
Alderson and Schutt voting aye on roll call. Mathews absent.
