HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/15/1957 Business Meeting�216 APRIL 15, 1957 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners'Schutt and Mathews and Assistant Attorney Loy present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 8, 1957 and adjourned meeting thereof, were approved as read. An Ordinance providing for the expenditure of $2800.00 in the Parking Meter Department for extra labor in connection with changing of parking meters from five cents to ten cents per hour, not provided for in the 1957 budget, having been read for the first time on April 8th and being read in its entirety on this date, it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2015 providing for the above expenditure be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -2015. AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of f unds not provided for in the 1957 Budget in the Extra Labor classification of the "Salaries" item of the Parking Meter Department of the Current Expense Fund; and declaring an emergency. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2016 rezoning Lots 6 and 7, Block 15, Milroys Plat, from a "B" Residence, Area 2, to a "C" Residence, Area 1, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -2016. AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the City of Yakima County of Yakima,Washington. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2017 rezoning Lots 9 to 14 inclusive, Block 66, original townsite of North Yakima, and certain other property more fully described in said ordinance from "B" Residence, Area 2, to Limited.Business, Area 2, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye`�on, roll call. + N ORDINANCE NO. B -2017. AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the City of Yakima, County of Yakima, Washington. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2018 regulating and establish- ing building lines on officially designated arterial streets as established in the traffic code and making said ordinance a part of the building regulations, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -2018. AN ORDINANCE regulating and establishing building lines on officially designated arterial streets as established in the traffic code. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -2019 amending Traffic Ordinanc( No. B -1526 relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation upon the streets and other ways open to the public, said ordinance setting forth certain streets as arterial highways, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE No. B -2019. AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating traffic, travel and transportation and other incidents upon the streets and other ways open to the public; prescribing the powers and duties of officers and others in relation thereto, defining offences; providing penalties, and amending Ordinance No. B -1526. ' Moved by.Schutt, seconded by Alderson that Resolution No. 1467 revoking Resolution No. C -1464 transferring $300.00 in the 1957 budget to cover a certain salary item in the Planning Commission department, be passed as read: carried, Alderson and Schutt voting aye on roll call. Mathews not voting. RESOLUTION NO. C -1467. A RESOLUTION revoking Resolution No. C -1464 signed and approved March 25, 1957. WHEREAS, the City Commission on the 25th day of March, 1957, adopted, signed and approved Resolution No. C -1464, and CITY OF YAKIMA: is hereby,;-evoked. day of April, 1957. ATTEST: J. A. ALDERSON Mayor A claim for damages having been filed a ainst the Cit of Yakima by Edna S. Digel and Alfred J-. Scheuffele in the amounts of 4,500.00 and $,000.00 respectively, arising from the flooding of claimants' property on or about March 11, 1957, and the City Commission believing that these claims are exorbitant and out of line with actual damage done, it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Resolution No. C -1468 retaining Earl M. Holmes, Adjuster, to investigate said claims, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -146$9 WHEREAS, claims for damages having been filed against. the City by Edna S. Digel and'Alfred J. Scheuffele in the amounts of $4,500.00 and $8,000.00, respectively, arising from the flooding claimants' property on or about March 11,1957; and WHEREAS, said claims.appear to be exorbitant, and 1 u D 1 1 L 1 APRIL 15, 1957 WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City of Yakima for the protection of its citizens and taxpayers to investigate the claims of damage so asserted against the City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the City Commission finds that the claims of Edna S. Digel and Alfred J. Scheuffele are exorbitant and completely out of line with actual damages sustained by said claimants. Section 2. That Earl M. Holmes, Adjuster, be and he is hereby retained by.the City of Yakima to investigate the claims of the parties named herein - above. ALDERSON City Clerk Mayor Moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to call for bids for five new police cars, 195.7 models, specifications filed with the Clerk, said bids to be received and considered at the hour of 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Alderson and seconded by Schutt that we do now adjourn to meet again at the hour of 2 :00 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye. on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, TUESDAY APRIL 16, 19579 2 O'CLOCK P.M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners "S.chutt and Mathews present on roll call. City attorney absent. Due to urgency of other business it was moved by Mathews and seconded by Schutt -that we adjourn to meet again at the hour of 10 o'clock on Thursday April 1$, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, THURSDAY, APRIL 1$,- 1957, 10 O'CLOCK A.M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt, and Mathews present on roll call. City Attorney absent. Moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for a new 1957 -1/2 Ton-pickup truck for the Irrigation Department, said bids to be received and considered May 6, 1957 at the hour.of 10 o'clock a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. An Ordinance amending the 1957 Budget and reducing and deleting certain budgeted items therefrom was introduced and read in full by the Clerk, said ordinance to be considered further before passing. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Alderson that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular session on Monday, April 22, 1957 at the hour of 10:00 a.m.: carried, Alderson, Schutt voting= ..Lyet,_.on rohl• c.all::,-.
