The minutes of the regular meeting of February 25, 1957 and the adjourned meeting thereof, were read and approved. This being the time for receiving bids for the construction of an irrigation system, being the 36th Avenue South Irrigation District L.I.D. $52, the following bids were received: E. M. Gostovich, Sunnyside $ 5221111.,10 Schedule #1 6,144.72 „ #2 N. L. Kimball 532792.23 6,362.23 Mid. Mt. Contractors 69,$94.64 $,527.50 Schedule #1 It #2 Schedule #1 rr #2 It was'moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said bids be referred to the City Engineers for recommendation': carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Bids having been received,'February 25, 1957 for the purchase of the 1957 supply of chlorine for the Water Department and the Superintendent of the Water Department recommending that the award for said purchase be made to the Pennsylvania Salt Manufacturing Company of Tacoma: it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that-said award be made: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. The following being monthly estimates for work performed on city projects during the month of February, 1957 - Contractor Lee Hoffman Central Htg. & Plbg. Project Payment due Sewer Lift Station & Compressor $2,23$.32 Ranney Well Pump House 2,700.22 C. & S. Const. Co. Ranney Well Pipe Line 1,269.2$ C. & E. Const. Co. Airport Extension 79$.67 and the City Engineer reporting the completion by the contractors of the Sewer Lift Station and the Compressor Station and also the Ranney Well and recommending that said work be accepted; it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that these projects be accented as complete and the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue warrants) in payment of said estimates: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt and seconded by Alderson that Resolution No. C -1462 placing the current expense fund on interest bearing warrant basis, be passed as read: carried, Alderson), Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -14621 A RESOLUTION providing for the registration of warrants drawn on the current expense fund of the City of Yakima, and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, the current expense fund of the City of Yakima is now overdrawn and there are not now available any other funds of the city of Yakima to loan to the current expense fund for the payment of warrants drawn on said fund for necessary city expenses; NOW,THE REFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. This resolution is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, welfare and safety, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist. Section 2. That warrants issued by the City of Yakima drawn on the current expense fund of the City, be, on and after March 4, 1957, registered warrant: and be marked "Not Paid for Want of Funds "at the time of such endorsement over the signature of the City Treasurer, and that the issuance of such registered warrants continue until such registered warrants already issued shall have been redeemed and there be on hand in said current expense fund sufficient money to pay warrants drawn 'on said fund as issued. Section 3. That said warrants shall draw interest at not to', exceed 4% per annum, and that said interest rate appear on the face of said warrants;) Section 4. That said warrants shall be redeemed and paid accordingly to their number, date and issue. Section 5. That the city treasurer is hereby directed to call said warrants in the manner provided by law. Mayor i l 1 I 11 MARCH 4, 1957 Bids having been received February 25, 1957, for the purchase of a 1,000 gallon per minute turbine pump for the Irrigation Department and the bid of DeCoto Bros. for a Layne and Bowler pump being recommended by the Superintendent of the Irrigation Department as the best bid, it was moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt, that the award be made to DeCoto Bros.; carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do not adjourn, to meet again in regular session on Monday, March 11, at the hour of 10:00 a.m., carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
