JANUARY 7, 1957
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Alderson, Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews present on roll call. City Attorney absent'.
Since the Superintendent of the Irrigation Department game the time of bid opening for
the purchase of Irrigation Pipe and Supplies at 10 o'clock a.m. and since six of the
bidders were present at this hol?r, the City Commission ordered saidlbids opened and
read. The following, bids were received.

The City Engineer having reported the completion of t =e 5th Avenue South Sewer District,
L.I.D. No. 834, by the borit "ractor, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that
said work be and is hereby accepted and the City Engineer instructed to prepare an
assessment roll for said - district and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to give
notice of hearing on said roll for February 4, 1957 at the hour of 8 o'clock p.m.:

RESOLUTION NO. C -14502 A RESOLUTION denying ,the claim for damages presented by C &
S Construction Company,
WHEREAS, C & S Construction Company performed certain work in
connection with the construction of a sewer line within Local Improvement District No.
834; and
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of October, 1956, said C & S Construc-
tion Company filed its claim for damages against the City in the aznou.nt of $7,790.00,
and
WHEREAS, consideration has been given to the merits of said
claim, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. That the claim of C & S Constructionn.Company against
the City of Yakima in the sum of $7,790.00 arising out of the sewer construction
contract under L.I.D. No. 834 be, and the same is hereby denied.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION this 7th day of January, 1957.

The City Engineer reporting that work has been completed on the Sewage Lift Station and
sewer line to serve the new Jr. -Sr. High School., said project having been constructed
under an agreement dated February 6, 1956, between the City of Yakima and Yaki -aa School
District No. 7, said project being under the supervision of the City Engineer and the
School District paying the entire cost of construction, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded
by Schutt that said job be accepted: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye
on roll call.
Moved by Alderson, seconded by Schutt that Frank Jenne be reappointed to the Civil
Service Commission to serve for a term of six years or until January 1, 1963, his
present term having expired January 1, 1957: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1983 providing for the expend-
iture of funds in the amount of $3,409.35 not budgeted in the 1956 budget for Tahoma
Cemetery, distribution being set forth in full in said ordinance: carried, Alderson,
Schutt and Mathews.voting aye on roll call.

ORDINANCE NO. B -1983, Ali ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted
for the Tahoma Cemetery, and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews-that Resolution No. C -1451 amending Resolution
C -111L� relating to vacations, sick 1•eave and other time off privileges for City
'Employees, be passed as read: carried, Alderson, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll
call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -1451, A RESOLUTION-amending Resolution No. C -1114, and relating to
vacations, sick leave, and other time off privileges for City Employees.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That paragraph 1 of the title "Sick Leave" of said Resolution
No. C -1114 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sick leave with pay shall accrue at the rate of one working;
day of leave for each full calendar month of the employee's service to corm7ience at the
end of the first calendar month of the employee's service and any such leave accrued
but unused in any year shall be cumulative for succeeding .years to a maximum of twenty -
four working days. Employees who are granted a leave of absence with pay for any
purpose shall continue to accrue sick leave at the regularly prescribed rate during
such absence."

ORDINANCE NO. B. 19841 AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance NO.. A -1194 creating the office
of Purchasing Agent of the City of Yakima., defining his duties therefor, and declaring
an emergency.

certifyiz:.g officer in accordance with the proceedure for obtaining Social Security for
