HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/23/1956 Business Meeting1 1 1 JULY 23, 1956 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Behnke, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews and City Attorney, Kenneth Hawkins present on roll call. The minutes of -the regular'meeting of July 16, 1956 were approved as read. This being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. C -1398 providing for the construc- tion of curbs and gutters from Mead Avenue to,Pierce and. Third Avenue to Cornell and there being protests against said action, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that said objections be made in writing and handed to the City Engineer on or before July 24, 1956 for further study and recommefidation: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being the time f'or the hearing; on Assessment roll, L.I.D. No. b31 and there being no protest in writing or otherwise,' it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1909 confirming said assessment roll be.passed as read: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1909, AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local. . Improvement District No. 831 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -lb17 of the Ordinances of the City of Yakima. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1910 providing for certain inter -fund transfer in the 1956 budget of the Street Department, be passed as read: carried, Behnke, Schutt and. Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1910, AN ORDINANCE relating to and providing for a certain inter -fund transfer within the 1956 budget of the Street Department of the City of Yakima and declaring an emergency. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -1911 providing f'or the re- zoning of specific portions of J. H. Hathaway's Five Acre Tracts from "B" Residence, Area 2 to "C" Residence, Area L,be passed as read: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews . voting aye on roll call. /ORDINANCE NO. B -1911, AN ORDINANCE rezoning certain specific property situate in the City of. Yakima, County of Yakima, Washington. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that John E. Pollard be appointed to serve a six year term on the Planning Commission or to serve until his sucessor is duly appointed.: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Schutt, seconded by Behnke that the bid received Monday, July 16, 1956 f'or a 112 ton, 6 cylinder pick -up truck f'or the Irrigation Department, be awarded. to, Bell. Wyman Company, said bid being x¢1,289.41: carried, Behnke and Schutt voting aye on roll_ call. Mathews voting nay. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that a portion of the bid for the overhead door with hardware,for number two Fire Station, submitted by the Dependable Ladder & Wood- working Company, namely, 1 Crawford S.L.A. Low Head Double Track Door and Hardware, 20' 8" x 917" x 1 3/4" and 2 Rows of Glass SS, being a total of x$567.00, be awarded: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
