The minutes of the adjourned meeting of July 11, 1956 were approved as read. This being the time for,,--the hearing on Resolution .No. C -1396 providing for the vacation of Washington Avenue, more particularly described in said resolution, and there being a strong protest to said vacation, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that we do now recess said hearing and continue same on Wednesday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m.: carried, Behnke, Mathews, Schutt voting aye on roll call. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that we do now adjourn until 2:00 p.m.: carried, Behnke, Mathews and Schutt voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, MONDAY, .JULY 16, 1956, 2:00 P.M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Behnke, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews and Assistant Uity Attorney, Carl Loy present on roll call. This being the time for opening of bids for one overhead, door complete with necessary hardware and electrical operator for the shop addition at No. 2 Fire Station,the follow= ing bid was received: Dependable Ladder and Woodworking Company X992.00 Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that this bid be taken under advisement: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being the time for opening of bids for re- roofing only the pitched portion of the roof of Fire Station No. 1 and there being no bids received,no action could be taken. This being the time for opening of bids for a 1/2 ton, 6 cylinder pick -up truck for the Irrigation Department, the following bids were received: Wagner Chevrolet-Company Burrows Motor Company Bell Wyman Company ,$1,336.96 $1,596.27 01,289,41 Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that these bids be taken under advisement and passed on at a later date: carried_, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. The City Engineer having reported the completion of the Curb and Gutter District on 26th Avenue South , L.I.D. No. 829, said work is hereby accepted and. the City Engineer instructed to prepare an assessment roll for said district and the City Clerk authorized to give notice of hearing on said roll for August 6, 1956 at the hour of 10:00 a,m.: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. The City Engineer having reported the completion of the Plath Avenue Sewer District, L.I.D. No. 36, said work is hereby accepted and the City Engineer instructed to prepare an assessment roll for said district and the City Clerk authorized to give notice of hearing on said roll for August 6, 1956'at the hour of 10-o' clock a.m.: carried, Behnke Schutt and. Mathews voting aye on roll call. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized to callfor bids for a new self propelled, steel wheeled, tandem.roller in the 2 -3 ton classification to be powered., with a gasoline engine; said bids to be received on or before Monday, July 30, 1956, 10 o'clock a.m: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. This being the time for the hearing on the assessment roll covering L.I.D. No. 824, providing for the Chestnut Park Domestic Water System, and there being no objection in writing or otherwise to said assessment roll, or any part thereof; it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -1907 confirming said assessment roll and every part thereof, be passed as read: carried, B-ehnke,"'Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -1907 confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement District No. 824 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -1750 of the Ordinances of the City of Yakima. Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the City Clerk be instructed. to advertise for bids for Alley Paving in Blocks 89 to 109 and others, Original Tdwnsite of North Yakima i now City of Yakima, L.I.D No. 828, and for construction of curbs and gutters in Lots 1 to 13, inclusive, of Chestnut Park, L.I.D. No. 841; said bids to be received on Monday, July 30, 1956 at 10 otclocK a.m.: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. There being no further business, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that we do now adjourn to meet Wednesday, July 18, 1956, to continue the hearing on the vacation of Washington Avenue:. carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call. RECESSED HEARING ON VACATION OF WASHINGTON AVENUE, WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 1956, 10 :00 A.M. The City Commission met pursuant to recession of, hearing, Mayor Behnke, Commissioners Schutt and Mathews and the City Attorney Kenneth Hawkins present on roll call. This being the time for further hearing on the vacation of Washington Avenue and it appearing that among those present, some were protesting. None of those protesting were abuttip.g owners nor were any of thos protesting posse.ssed of any vested interest and it further appearing that,after every party protesting being given opportunity to state his objections, that the best interest of the public is for the improvement of the Airport, it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1408 be passed as read: carried, Behnke, Mathews and Schutt voting aye on roll call. 1.1.9 FF-. JULY 16, 1956 ORDINANCE NO. B -19081 AN ORDINANCE providing for the vacation of the street in the City of Yakima mentioned and described as follows, to -wit: Beginning 20 feet East of the Southeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section 34, Township 13 North, Range 18 E.W.M., said point being the point of intersection of the center line of Washington Avenue with the easterly line of Sorenson Road extended northerly; thence easterly 33L4.88 feet to a point which is 2020.88 feet easterly from the west 1/4 corner of Section 35, Township 13 North,_ Range 18, E.W.M., in Yakima County, Washington being a portion of Washington Avenue in Yakima, Washington.
