JULY 2, 1956
The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Behnke, Commissioners Schutt and
Mathews present on roll call. City Attorney, Kenneth Hawkins, absent.
In accordance with action taken on June 4, 1956 and this being the first meeting in
July, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that the meeting be adjourned to
convene again at 8 o'clock p.m.: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll
call.
ADJOURNED MEETING, MONDAY, JULY 2, 1956, 8:00 P.M.
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Behnke and Commissioners Schutt
and Mathews and 8ity Attorney, Kenneth Hawkins present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 25, 1956 were approved as read:
Moved by Mathews, seconaed by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1902, which was introduced on
June 25, 1956 and read in full by the City Clerk and laid on the table for one week;
said ordinance providing for the expenditure of $800.00 for office supplies for the
Engineering Department as an emergency which was not budgeted for in 1956, be passed as
read: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1902, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not budgeted
for the payment of office supplies for the Engineering Department and declaring an
emergency.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -1903, which was introduced on
June 25, 1956 and read in full by the City Clerk and laid on the table for one week;
said ordinance providing for the expenditure of $4075.00 not provided for in the 1956
budget for the payment of salaries for a cost accountant and a secretary therefore and
declaring an emergency, be passed as .read: carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting
aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1903, AN ORDINANCE providing for the expenditure of funds not provided
for in the 1956 budget for the payment of salaries for a cost accountant and a secretary
therefor, and. declaring an emergency.
Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -1904 providing for a full time
clerk for the police judge and increasing his salary accordingly not,to exceed $600.00
for the remainder of 1956; said ordinance having been read in full on June 25, 1956 and
laid on the table for one week as provided by law, be passed as read: darried, Behnke
Mathews and Schutt voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1904, AN ORDINANCE providing for a full time clerk for the judge and
increasing his salary accordingly, aril amending Ordinance No. B -513 entitled "AN
ORDINANCE creating the office of clerk for the police judge defining his duties and pro-
viding for his bond ".
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that Ordinance No. B -1905, providing for the pay-
ment of salaries for a street engineer, and an assistant engineer, two inspectors, three
draftsmen, and an increase in the salary of the city engineer, deputy engineer and
chief inspector in the engineering department of the City of Yakima, expenditure not to
exceed $19,950.00; said ordinance having been introduced on June 25, 1956 and read in
full by the `'ity Clerk and laid on the table for one wee], be passed as read: carried,
Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roil call.
ORDINANCE NO. B -1905, providing for the expenditure of funds not provided for in the
1956 budget for the payment of salaries for a street engineer, and an assistant engineer,
two inspectors, three draftsmen, and an incfease in the salary of the city engineer,
department engineer, and chief' inspector in the engineering departent of the pity of Yakima;
and declaring an emergency.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the _City Clerk is hereby authorized to call
for bids by publication as required by law for re- roofing only the pitched portion of
the foof of Fire Station No. 1, located at 131 South 3rd Street and one overhead door
complete with necessary hardware and electrical operator for the shop addition at No. 2
Fire °Station located at 103 South 7th Avenue; said bids to be received on Monday, July
16, 1956, at 10 o'clock a.m? carried, Behnke, Mathews and Schutt voting aye on roll
call.
Moved by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the "ity Clerk is hereby authorized -to call
for bids by publication as required by law for a 1956 Model, 112 ton, 6 cylinder pick -up
truck for the Irrigation Department, bids to consider the trade -in of a 1949 Internation-
al pick -up; said bids to be received, Monday, July 16, 1956 at 10 o'clock a.m.:
carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
The City Engineer having reported the completion of the sewer district in Lots 1 to 27
Liebert Addition, L.I.D. No. 639, said work is hereby accepted and the City Engineer
instructed to prepare an assessment roll f'or said district and the `pity Clerk authorized
to give notice of hearing on said roll for July 30, 1956 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m:
carried, Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
This being the time for further hearing on the vacation of 55th Avenue and Richey Road
it was MOVED by Mathews, seconded by Schutt that the pitition be rejected upon the
recommendation of John Mayo, Street Engineer: carried, Behnke, Schutt and. Mathews
voting aye on roll.call.
This being the time for the hearing on assessment roll covering L.I.D. No. 835, same
being the Lincoln Crescent Sewer District, and there being no objections in writing or
otherwise, it was MOVED by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that Ordinance No. B -1906 con -
firming said assessment roll and every part thereof, be passed as read: carried,
Behnke, Schutt and Mathews voting aye on roll call.
ORDINANCE NO. R -1906, AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local
Improvement District No. 635 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -1856 of the
Ordinances of the City of Yakima.

Moved by Schutt, seconded by Mathews that we do now adjourn to meet again in regular
session on Monday, July 9, 1956, at 10 o'clock a.m.: carried,:Behnke, Schutt and
Mathews voting aye on roll call.
