This same program has been available to our police officers. R -2013- A RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Yakima and Council 2, Washington State Council of County and City Employees representing Local 1122, American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees representing Municipal Employees with the City of Yakima, AFL -CIO ( "Union "), regarding the purchase and repayment of AR -15 firearms by Municipal Correction Officer employees. WHEREAS, the City and the Union have been engaged in negotiations on the subject of wages and economics for 2013; and WHEREAS, the City and Union have agreed to implement an AR -15 purchase and repayment program for Correction Officer employees, modeled after the current program in place for the Yakima Police Department as provided in the attached Memorandum of Understanding; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Yakima to agree to the terms and conditions of the attached Memorandum of Understanding, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached and incorporated "Memorandum of Understanding" between the City of Yakima, and the Union implementing an AR -15 purchase and repay program. . WHEREAS, The City .'. ♦ Union • . provisions forth MOU supersede any conflicting provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covering the period January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2014 for Municipal Employees. NOW, THEREFORE, it is agreed by and between the City and the Union that the City will provide municipal correction officer employees to purchase NOW, THEREFORE, the employee will enter into a personal agreement with the city to repay the cost of the AR-1 5 firearm, interest free, in twenty four (24) payroll deductions. If the employee leaves employment prior to twenty four (24) months the balance of the cost will be deducted from the final paycheck.
