Item No. 4.G.
For Meeting of: April 20, 2021
Resolution authorizing documentation confirming the City of
Yakima's Certification Acceptance (CA) status with the Washinton
State Department of Transporatation when developing all Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA) projects
Scott Schafer, Public Works Director
Bill Preston, City Engineer (509) 575-6754
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
To maintain the City's Certification Acceptance status, the City must have current CA
documentation information on file with Washington State Department of Transportation
(WSDOT). This documentation outlines the responsibilities of the City per the WSDOT Local
Agencies Guidelines (LAG) manual when developing all Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA) projects. It has been updated to reflect the current Public Works Table of
Organization.
By maintaining current CA, the City saves time and money since the City has the authority to
develop, advertise, award, and manage its own projects rather than contracting out for
administrative help. WSDOT Local Programs also signs the document indicating that they have
accepted the City's CA documentation. The City of Yakima's Certification Acceptance (CA)
status is attached for City Council review.
