Chamber of Rob Peterson, Interim Airport Manager Commerce Agenda Downtown Master Plan Update: Joan Davenport brought the council members up to date on the two contracts being brought to council on April 2nd for the downtown master planning process. One is for $115,000 with Crandall Arambula to complete the urban design and circulation portion of the plan and the other is with Thomas Consultants for $32,000 to conduct the retail portion of the plan. The project would get underway in May with an initial public session to gather feedback from a number of stakeholders in downtown and the community as a whole. Downtown Projects Update: Sean Hawkins updated the council on downtown projects happening within the Downtown Yakima Business Improvement District. These include the flower grant program, the new version of www.downtownyakima.com being drafted and the special event activity. Mill Site Update: Joan gave an over -view of the contract submitted for the April 2nd City Council meeting that will approve up to $220,700 with Landau Associates to conduct a Geotechnical and Environmental Assessment of the Cascade Mill area. The study is important to redevelopment efforts and is eligible to be reimbursed by the LIFT funds. In addition, the City received the letter from Federal Highways which authorizes a formal study for the 1 -82 & Yakima Avenue interchange modification. A Steering Committee is being formed with elected officials. Kathy Coffey volunteered to be the City of Yakima representative. Air Service Update: Sean Hawkins updated the council members that Airplanners was focused on gathering data and performing research for the next six weeks. There are three groups being surveyed — visitors staying in our hotels, the local business community and travelers while at the Yakima Air Terminal. Airport Update & Stakeholders Group Robert Peterson updated the council members regarding the progress of developing the Airport Advisory Committee. Numerous invitations were sent out to previous airport board members, tenants of the airport, and surrounding business leaders to contribute to the committee. As we develop the list of members initial discussions regarding the frequency of the meetings will be on a quarterly basis.
