design and circulation portion of the plan and the other is with Thomas Consultants for

with an initial public session to gather feedback from a number of stakeholders in
downtown and the community as a whole.

happening within the Downtown Yakima Business Improvement District. These include
the flower grant program, the new version of www.downtownyakima.com being drafted
and the special event activity.
Mill Site Update: Joan gave an over -view of the contract submitted for the April 2nd
City Council meeting that will approve up to $220,700 with Landau Associates to
conduct a Geotechnical and Environmental Assessment of the Cascade Mill area. The
study is important to redevelopment efforts and is eligible to be reimbursed by the LIFT

formal study for the 1 -82 & Yakima Avenue interchange modification. A Steering
Committee is being formed with elected officials. Kathy Coffey volunteered to be the City
of Yakima representative.
Air Service Update: Sean Hawkins updated the council members that Airplanners
was focused on gathering data and performing research for the next six weeks. There
are three groups being surveyed — visitors staying in our hotels, the local business
community and travelers while at the Yakima Air Terminal.
Airport Update & Stakeholders Group Robert Peterson updated the council
members regarding the progress of developing the Airport Advisory Committee.
Numerous invitations were sent out to previous airport board members, tenants of the
airport, and surrounding business leaders to contribute to the committee. As we develop
the list of members initial discussions regarding the frequency of the meetings will be on
a quarterly basis.
