`14&PExas, emergencies can occur at any time that require law enforcement,fire or
emergency medical-services; and
WHEREAS,EAS, when an emergency occurs it is the prompt response of law enforcement
officers,firefighters, and emergency medical service providers that is critical to the protection of
life and preservation of property; and
`GhWEcEt7S, the safety of our law enforcement officers,firefighters, and emergency
medical service providers is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained
from citizens who telephone the 'Yakima County's E911 Communications Center, known as
SunComm; and
WHEREAS,EAS, emergency calf-takers and dispatchers are the first and most critical
contact our citizens have with emergency services; and
WHEREAS,REAS, emergency calf-takers and dispatchers are the single vital linkfor our law
enforcement officers,firefighters, and emergency medical service providers by monitoring their
activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety; and
`Gh'}IEcEAS, emergency calf-takers and dispatchers of SunComm have contributed
substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients;
and
`Gh'}IEcEAS, each emergency call-taker and dispatcher has exhibited compassion,
understanding,professionalism, and displayed untiring efforts during their assigned shs in
the past year;
NOW tERETORE, I, Patricia Byers, Wtayor of the City of'Yakima and on behalf of
the 'Yakima City Council- do hereby proclaim the weekofApril11-17, 2021 as
"NATIONAL ` ELSE Co!1!1 v.XIC OR,S WEEK"
in the City of'Yakima, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep
our City and citizens safe.
