Cawley called the meeting to order at 10:05.
New Business:
Report on Washington DC Trip
City Manager O'Rourke updated the committee on the public safety related
meetings that occurred during the recent trip to Washington DC. Meetings were
held with the Department of Justice COPS Office regarding hiring grants, the
President's Office on Drug Control regarding high intensity drug trafficking areas
(HIDTA), and also meetings on gang issues focusing on intelligence
gathering /sharing and technical support.

Chief Willson advised that the interview process was complete for the fire
inspection candidates and final selections will be made soon. He also has staff
members that have volunteered to look into moving Yakima's fire rating from a 4
to a 3. He further advised Captain Dorenbush has been moved out of his
community education duties into other assignments, so he is currently looking for
someone to take over the community education duties. Fire is also working on
an Automatic Aid Agreement with the West Valley Fire Department that could be
ready for Council review as early as April 2, 2013.
The meeting adjourned at 10:13 a.m. to the next meeting on April 26, 2013, @10:00
a.m. in the CED Conference Room in City Hall.
