YAKIMA POLICE CITIZENS ACADEMY: The Yakima Police Department is
offering a citizens academy beginning next week. The class is full (31
participants) and there is a waiting list.
FLOWER GRANT UPDATE: To date, 25 business/property owners have
submitted grant applications for the flower grant. The goal is to have 60
business/property owners participate.
FLOWER BASKETS: The hanging baskets are coming along nicely. TIE
baskets will be delivered • May 1 and 2 and will be hung around that time. I
BASEBALL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND: There are approximately
baseball teams playing at Kiwanis and Gateway fields this weekend. Tea
range in ages from 9 to 14. The fields will be in full use from Friday night un

CITY MANAGER LEAVE: I will be out of the office on Thursday, April 11 and
Friday, April 12. City Attorney Jeff Cutter will be the Acting City Manager in

SUBJ.- Federal Highway Administration Authorizes Preparation of Report for I-
82/ Yakima Avenue/Cascade Mill Interchange Modification
On March 21, 2013 Dan Mathis, PE, Division Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration
(Fl IWA) in Olympia submitted a letter to the Washington State Secretary of Transportation, Lynn
Peterson regarding the proposed project to modify the existing 1-82/ Yakima Avenue/Cascade Mill
Interchange, The letter provides the crucial authorization by FHWA that enables the detailed planning
and design work necessary to explore the technical feasibility of a modified interchange.
