The Yakima Greenway is a popular hiking and biking venue for City residents. There are 8
Greenway entry and parking portals. The public has raised concerns about parking security
and their willingness to use the Greenway.
The combined cost to provide lighting and security surveillance cameras is $32,000 per
location, or $96,000 for all three locations. Funding for these security enhancements is
recommended to come from Police Department FY2013 operational savings of
approximately $248,000 resulting from the retirement of several senior police officers.
