We both recognize the need to combine resources for the betterment of services and improved use of equipment and personnel. Sometimes it is difficult to always look at the bigger picture but it is always advantageous in the end. For clarification, we are discussing the area within the urban growth area north of Tieton Dr, and east of Hennessy Rd. Also included in the agreement will be the area within the urban growth area basically north Ahtanum Rd., south of Spring Creek between 62 avenue and 42 avenue in accordance with the map we have developed. • Yakima will dispatch one apparatus to all calls in these areas along with West Valley's regular response, dependant on call type. West Valley will dispatch a minimum of 4 apparatus to structure fires making the Yakima apparatus the fifth unit. • West Valley will dispatch one apparatus to all confirmed structure fires in Yakima west of and including 40 avenue. • Both departments will continue to dispatch normal responses to these areas regardless of this agreement. This is meant to supplement the response of each department rather than displacing an apparatus from each department. • The call volume should be relatively comparable to each department with the given parameters. Adjustments may always be made in the future if the agreement becomes burdensome for either department. This act should provide better life safety for our citizens and help us build a stronger working relationship for the future. Please make any corrections and reply back to me for the next step.
