Mayor Maureen Adkison Bureau President & CEO John Cooper - Lynn Kittleson Chair Ettl called the meeting to order at 10:11am. - Review committee visit to Olympia Ettl reviewed a visit to Olympia by the Council Partnership Committee on January 28 and 29 Ettl gave an overview of the visit, which included discussions with each member of the legislative delegations from the 13 14 and 15 districts as well as key state agency leaders. Ettl reiterated the value of the City's newly -hired Olympia lobbyist, Jim Justin, who has played a key role in advancing the Council's adopted 2013 State Legislative and Administrative Priorities. Ettl also briefly discussed his upcoming testimony at a hearing scheduled by the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee for Friday, February 22n regarding binding interest arbitration legislation being supported by the City. Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi, Jr. was also scheduled to accompany Ettl to Olympia and testify at the hearing. - Discuss Washington, D.C. visit A visit by the Council Partnership Committee to Washington, D.C. in mid March was briefly discussed. O'Rourke presented a preliminary agenda for the visit, which included discussions with members of the Washington State congressional delegation and key federal agency leaders. O'Rourke noted that Yakima County's federal lobbyist will provide information to the City's federal lobbyist in order to coordinate City and County lobbying efforts in D.C. Ettl encouraged Y -PAC viewers to ask questions of the committee about its D.C. visit both before and after it occurs. - Discuss appointment of committee members to other boards, committees, commissions, etc. O'Rourke said that with the exception of Council Member Rick Ensey having expressed a desire to no longer serve on the Yakima Valley Conference of Governments board and executive board, all other current appointments can remain in effect. Ettl said he will check with other Council members to gauge their interest level in replacing Ensey on the COG board and executive board. - Set date for next committee meeting Ettl suggested moving the regular meeting of the committee to Fridays at 11:00am. Staff was instructed to check with other committee members regarding the potential change. - Other business Coffey will check with the Association of Washington Cities regarding whether she can share with the full Council information she obtains through her service on the AWC Legislative Committee. * The next Partnerships Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled to take place on Friday, March 8th 2013 at 11:00am in the 2n Floor Conference Room at Yakima City Hall. The meeting was adjourned at 10:36am.
