ITEM TITLE: Fire Department Citizen Recognition for Chris Varady, Luke
Lenahan, Ryan Frost and Dustin Golding

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
On October 20, 2012 the Yakima Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment
complex at 5200 W. Nob Hill Blvd Four college students, Chris Varady, Luke Lenahan, Ryan Frost
and Dustin Golding were passing by and saw the fire. They pulled the alarm box, alerting the
occupants to the emergency, and used two portable fire extinguishers on the fire until the arrival of
YFD. We are grateful for the actions of these young men who did all they could in a dangerous
situation. Their actions in alerting occupants and the fire department kept property damage at a
minimum, and no injuries were reported
