Foster 2404 Jerome Ave Yakima, WA 98902 • RECEIVED CITY OF YAKIMA OCT 2 42012 October 22, 2012 OFFICE OF CITY COUNCIL City of Yakima Council Members C/O City Manager's Office 129 North 2nd Street Yakima, WA 98901 Dear Council Members, The City of Yakima's Senior /Disabled Exterior Paint Program is such a Blessing. The first thing I would see when I came home was peeling paint. It brought such a feeling of shame and hopelessness. I really worried about how this would wear and weaken the frame of my home as well. I was afraid it was beyond help. I would try to save money, but with health issues, could not do anything myself. The last ten years have brought a lot of health problems. Getting older and having these things you just can't do, often makes you feel hopeless. f still work, but that is hard. And I just could not get things together to paint my home. I was not aware of this program, but my sister -in -law had some neighbors using it and made a call to the city. She knew I really needed this and I often spoke of the need. The application process was user friendly. I was thrilled to be accepted. I found a color I love, because I saw it on another home painted from this program, one of their neighbor's homes. I called the city and they helped me verify the color name and number. That is very much appreciated. Sometimes I forget and when I come home I see some of the pretty blue and it makes me smile. I don't feel so ashamed and it is cuter and cleaner. A real face lift. I believe this program is Great for the Senior and also for the people working in the program. I was able to meet a few of the young adults and heard comments like " job experience and helping someone is a win, win situation." I believe it gives them pride in accomplishing something positive and helping others. And it certainly helped me. This program is awesome making the neighborhood look nicer and taking away some of the stress of constantly worrying about it. A real blessing. I don't have to feel ashamed if someone I know drives by or comes over. And the home looks nicer and newer. Awesome! Thank you so very, very much. Sincerely, fi 4* 0. i641/ Betty M.
