CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
NOVEMBER 29, 1994
ADJOURNED MEETING WITH YAKIMA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
I/ The City Council met in session on this date at 3:00 p.m., in the
Council Chambers of City Hall. Council Members present were Mayor
Pat Berndt, Clarence Barnett, Ernie Berger, Bill Brado,
Lynn Buchanan, and Bernard Sims. Council Member Henry Beauchamp
absent and excused. Also present were Assistant City Attorney
Peterson and Deputy City Clerk Skovald. County Commissioners
Charles Klarich and Jim Lewis were also present.
This being the time set for the continuation of the Joint
City /County Public Hearing, Commissioner Klarich called the meeting
to order. Public testimony concerning the proposed 1994 Text
Amendments to the Urban Area Zoning Ordinance has been taken from
two other public hearings on October 11, and November 1, 1994.
Commissioner Klarich reopened the public hearing for additional
public testimony and asked if anyone wished to speak. There being
no one, he asked if there were any questions from the Board or from
Council members. There being no questions, it was MOVED BY
BARNETT, SECONDED BY BRADO, TO CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. The
motion carried by unanimous voice vote; Beauchamp absent. The
County Commissioners concurred with the motion.
Mr. Klarich explained the next step in the process is to discuss
each of the proposed amendments and either- adopt, reject, modify,
or remand back to the Planning Commission each of these amendments.
Council Member Barnett referred to a November 23, 1994 letter from
the Central Washington Home Builders Association and submitted it
as Exhibit No. 6 to the Deputy City Clerk. There was brief
discussion about the CWHBA position against passing any of the
amendments. Discussion and comments began concerning the lack of
available material needed to decide the matter during this meeting.
After Commissioner Klarich suggested continuing this meeting to a
I/ future date to make sure all material is available, it was MOVED BY
BARNETT, SECONDED BY BUCHANAN, TO SET ANOTHER DATE FOR A PUBLIC
MEETING, AT WHICH TIME THE JOINT BOARD WILL REVIEW AND TAKE ACTION
ON EACH INDIVIDUAL AMENDMENT AS PROPOSED. The motion carried by
unanimous voice vote; Beauchamp absent. The Commissioners
concurred with the motion.
