Mike Levinson has a total of 35 years of professional experience in the public and private
sectors, including executive positions in the fields of City Management, Financial Consulting,
Strategic and Business Planning and Economic Development.
For 15 years (1995- 2010), Mike, as City Manager, led the City of Coral Springs' (FL) quest for
excellence, culminating in its receipt of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The
City remains the only State or Local Government to receive this Presidential honor. During his
tenure as City Manager, the City received and maintained a AAA bond rating from all three
rating agencies on Wall Street, achieved customer satisfaction ratings as high as 97% from
residents, businesses and City employees and became the first Florida corporation to become
a two -time recipient of the Governor's Sterling Award for Performance Excellence.
Now retired from his post as City Manager, Mike serves as Senior Vice President of Dunlap &
Associates, Inc., an independent financial advisory firm to local governments, special districts,
colleges and universities, where he focuses on real estate -based public /private partnerships
and innovative approaches for the financing of public infrastructure. He continues to serve as
First President Emeritus of the Florida Sterling Council, advancing corporate excellence
throughout the State of Florida. Mike is also a sought after speaker and advisor to local
governments on the international front, offering proven, practical approaches for improving
organizational performance and bottom line results. He has worked with the Japan
Productivity Center, the Minister of Municipalities for the UAE, the City of Providencia, Chile
(2010 recipient of Chile's National Quality Award), and currently works with Business
Excellence New Zealand.
Mike attended the Yale University Graduate School of Economics, taking coursework toward
his Ph. D. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from Southern Connecticut State
University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration from
Quinnipiac University.
In 2010, Mike received a Tribute from the Florida House of Representatives for dedication
and managerial excellence and was recognized by the Broward Board of County
Commissioners for 15 years of exemplary service as City Manager of Coral Springs by
dedicating October 30, 2010 as Michael Levinson Appreciation Day.
Mike resides in Naples, Florida. He has one daughter, Danna, who is a graduate of Saint
John's University and the John Jay Graduate School of Criminal Justice. She works in
Washington, D.C. in the field of Criminal Justice.

• CITY COUNCIL RETREAT: The Council Retreat/Strategic Planning workshop will
be next Tuesday in the Yakima Convention Center, Suites 200 and 300 from 9:00
a.m. — 3:00 p.m. There will be a light breakfast and lunch served. Mike Levinson,
former City Manager of Coral Springs, Florida will be here facilitating the workshop.
• JULY SALES TAX DISTRIBUTION: The sales tax numbers for July were posted.
We received $1,173,504, which is $51,239 or 4.6% more than July 2011. Year to
date we are $386,966 or 4.6% ahead of 2011.
