1. Roll Call
Present:
Council: Mayor Micah Cawley, presiding, Assistant Mayor Maureen Adkison, Council
Members Sara Bristol, Kathy Coffey, Rick Ensey, Dave Ettl and Bill Lover
2. To evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for pubic employment (allow up to one hour).
Executive Session was held and adjourned at 8:02 p.m. Council reconvened in open session at
8:03 p.m. Mayor Cawley thanked John Darrington of Colin Baenzinger and Associates for his
help with the City Manager candidate process.
Council Member Ettl stated the City is fortunate to be in a situation with the quality of candidates
they interviewed; however two candidates rose to the top. He noted Council and the citizen
panel came to the same conclusion. Assistant Mayor Adkison thanked Michael Morales for
doing an incredible job as Interim City Manager.
Council discussed how candidates Tony O'Rourke and Paul Schmidt would both -be excellent
City Managers for Yakima. Motion to enter into negotiations with Tony O'Rourke and if
negotiations do not work out, to contact Paul Schmidt.
Motion: Approve , Moved by Council Member Dave Ettl, Seconded by Council Member Rick
Ensey.Carried.7 -0. Council Members voting Aye: Adkison , Bristol , Cawley, Coffey , Ensey ,
Ettl , Lover .
3. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. to the next Council Business meeting of May 1, 2012 at 6
p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Motion: Adjourn , Moved by Council Member Rick Ensey, Seconded by Council Member Dave
Ettl.Carried.7 -0. Council Members voting Aye: Adkison , Bristol , Cawley, Coffey, Ensey, Ettl ,
Lover.
