Attachments: 2012 NCS Enrollment Form.pdf; The NCS City Template 2012.pdf; Sample NCS Timeline.pdf
Hello Michael,
Thanks for contacting us about your interest in citizen surveying! The best local government managers
are developing systems to track resident opinion and The National Citizen Survey' (The NCS) is the
premier citizen survey service from ICMA, the National League of Cities (NLC) and National Research
Center, Inc. (NRC). It is turned to by more managers than any other service. The NCS is a service to
administer, analyze and report results from a customizable citizen survey. The report compares the
results from your jurisdiction with results from other jurisdictions across the US using this country's
largest and most current database of survey results so that your comparisons can be more precise and
useful. The level of standardization and automation that is used allows National Research Center, Inc. to
provide this high quality survey at an exceptionally low cost while preserving the ability of each
jurisdiction to make the most important customizations for its locale.
You may customize your survey by picking from a set of questions. Questions 2, 9 and 11 contain items
that may or may not be applicable to Yakima and can be dropped as needed. You also have the option to
create three custom questions that are entirely specific for your jurisdiction. I've attached the survey
template. The custom question area is on page 4, under question 18a -c. "XYZ" is the type of jurisdiction
nd "ABC" is the jurisdiction name (it would read: the City of Yakima).
I've also attached an enrollment form that includes pricing for The NCS basic service ($10,300) and add -
on options you can select. If you decide to move forward with The NCS, we can begin the process at any
time. To initiate the service please send in the enrollment form (attached) and a check for $6,300. I've
attached a sample timeline for The NCS. To see more information including sample reports you can go to
the ICMA Web site: www.icma.org /ncs
I'm sorry I missed your call this afternoon — I'm just about to leave the office and I'II be out of the office
tomorrow as well (Friday) but I will be available next week, and I'd be happy to answer any questions
you may have. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email at your convenience.
Best,
Damema
