womam, the members of the law enforcement agency of Yakima pray an
essential rote in safeguarding the rights andfreedoms of our area; and
`G1I EREAS, it is important that air citizens know and understand the duties,
responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their raw enforcement agency, and that members of
our raw enforcement agency recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding l fe and
property, by protecting them against violence and disorder, and by protecting the innocent
against deception and the weakagainst oppression; and
` RIERE S, the men and women of the raw enforcement agency of Yakima
unceasingly provide a vital public service;
W PEREAS, flay 13 —19, 2012 has been named "National Week ";
NOW, THEEFOE, I, Micah Cawley, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf
of the City Council, do hereby proclaim 91lay 15, 2012 as
" PEACE OFFICER'S 911E5Ilo1?IAL DAT'
in honor of those raw enforcement officers who, through their courageous deed, have made the
ultimate sacrifice in service to their community or have become disab in the pe of
duty, and let us recognize and pay respect to the survivors of our fallen heroes. Further, I calf
upon all citizens to observe the weekof 9blay 13 — 19, 2012 as NationalPolice Weekin which
all of our citizens may join in commemorating law enforcement officers, past and present, who
by their faithful and royal devotion to their responsibilities have rendered service to their
communities and, in so doing, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring
reputation for preserving the rights and security of ad citizens.
