3. OPEN DISCUSSION FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
Referring to the recent resignation on the. Regional Planning
Commission, Council Member Brado stated that apparently there is some
confusion as to the roles of the Urban Area Planning Commission and
the Regional Planning Commission. He stated that each body is
important and performs different functions. Because the Urban Area
Zoning Ordinance is a document that can be negative towards
development in the city, he stated it needs close scrutiny. Council
Member Sims stated the comment he heard was that one group spent time
making revisions and when it went to the next layer of review, the
revisions were modified. It was thought that there was a duplication
of service and perhaps there should only be one review committee.
Mayor Pro -tem Barnett suggested that this be a topic of discussion at
the joint City /County informal meeting.
