p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers to amend the six -
year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
• This action would set April 17, 2012 as the date for a public hearing to amend the six -year
TIP. An amendment to the 2012 -2017 six -year TIP is required to break the North 1st Street
Revitalization, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to SR 12 project that is currently listed as
TIP Priority #81 into two projects. The TIP Priority #81 project will be North 1st Street
Revitalization, 'N' Street to SR 12. A new project, TIP Priority #84, will be North 1st Street
Revitalization, MLK Boulevard to 'N' Street.
A recent call for projects for the Surface Transportation Program (STP) resulted in the City
receiving a $250,000 grant (preliminary engineering only) for improving N. 1st Street from 'N'
Street to SR 12. The local match requirement will be $76,800.

RESOLUTION NO. R -2012-
A RESOLUTION fixing the time and place of a hearing for April 17, 2012 at 7:00 pm in
the Council Chambers at City Hall to amend the 2012 through 2017 Six -
Year Transportation Improvement Program.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima annually prepares, reviews and adopts a Six -Year
Transportation Improvement Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in
the City of Yakima for the ensuing six year period, all as contemplated and required by State
and Federal law, and
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has identified a need to amend the current Six Year
Transportation Improvement Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in
the City of Yakima; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing must be held on said amended program before final
approval, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That said amended program shall be presented for hearing and determination on Tuesday,
April 17, 2012 at the hour of 7.00 PM on said day, in the Council Chambers of the City of
Yakima, at Yakima City Hall, Yakima, Washington, or as soon thereafter as the same may
be heard, and that notice of such hearing be given as approved by law.

North 1st Street Revitalization
'N' Street to SR 12
This project will improve 1st Street between 'N' Street and its connection with SR 12
and 1 -82 by rehabilitating the pavement and lane markings, removing on- street
parking, enhancing street and pedestrian lighting, constructing median islands and
installing various pedestrian and decorative elements.
