SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
For more than a quarter century, Lily Yeh has spearheaded projects around the world that combine
arts with other community buildings strategies in order to transform an revitalize cities as diverse as
Korogoshu, Nairobi, Salt Lake City, Utah, Damascus, Syria, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Beijing,
China.
Yeh is sharing her message and vision here in Yakima in hopes of sparking interest in the
development of a project intended to positively address some of our community's most pressing
• issues including crime, gang violence, and poverty
Yeh's visit will include meetings with members of the Yakima Arts Commission, the Yakima LIGHT
Project, the Yakima Gang Free Initiative, the Yakima County Gang Commission and Safe Yakima
Valley Communities.

engage and participate in our community in an entirely new way
to create solutions for pressing issues like gangs.

Lily will share her story and will relate possibilities for Yakima —
ideas to improve our community through a participatory,
multifaceted project that will foster community empowerment,

development and preserve and promote our cultural heritage.
