SUBJECT: Weekly Issues Report
• MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. HOLIDAY: City Hall will be closed on Monday,
January 16 due to observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. The
MLK parade will begin assembling at 10:30 a.m. at 5 and MLK Boulevard,
and the parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. The parade will end around 11:45 to
12:00 p.m. with a program to follow at the Convention Center.
• 22 ANNUAL SNOWBALL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: Yakima Parks &
Recreation is preparing for its 22 annual Snowball Softball Tournament at
Kiwanis Park on January 14 and 15. This unique winter event attracts more
than 20 men's slow pitch teams from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
• CITY CLERK'S OFFICE HOURS: Due to upcoming staff reductions and
transition workload, the Clerk's office will only be open to the public Monday
through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• ASSOCIATION OF CHURCHES: I have been asked to speak at the
Association of Churches on January 18 to discuss state of city affairs and
upcoming initiatives.
