ADJOURNED MEETING
The City Council met in session on this date at 7:00 a.m. at the
Yakima Center, Yakima, Washington for informal discussion. Council
Members present were Mayor Pat Berndt, Clarence Barnett '(present

after 7:27 a.m.), Henry Beauchamp (present after 7:45 a.m.), Bill
Brado, Lynn Buchanan, Skip Semon and Bernard Sims. Staff members
present were City Manager Zais, Assistant City Manager Rice,
Administrative Assistant to the City Manager Oliver, and City
Clerk Roberts.
Council members discussed the contract for workers' compensation on
the agenda for today's meeting, questioning the basis for the
increased fee for services. The parking for police and certain
City employees was also discussed. Council Member Semon requested
a diagram of the parking lots indicating parking assignment.
Assistant City Manager Rice reported on a topic that will come
before the Council today under "Audience Participation" regarding
the ISTEA grant application for the Yakima Interurban Lines
Association. (Council Member Sims absent after 7:57 a.m.) Council
members discussed this application and how it may affect the City's
joint application with the Greenway Board. Council Member Buchanan
asked staff about $80,000 worth of trackage and a switch worth
several thousand dollars that seem to have disappeared. Mr. Rice
stated he would check on that situation. Council also discussed
the proposed bicycle /pedestrian pathway along the -I -82 /Yakima
Avenue interchange in the Greenway ISTEA application and other
possible funding through the Department of Transportation.
Ms. Oliver asked Council members if they had any modifications or
comments concerning the City newsletter in the August 18th
information. packet. Council Member Buchanan commented it was
difficult for speed readers when there are three words on one side
of a picture and three words on the other side. •
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
